Ashley Furniture... did they rip me off?

Back in November on Black Friday, I bought a sleeper sofa at Ashley's Furniture. Got a damn good deal. At the time, we were told it was back ordered but would deliver in Mid January. Fair enough. Mid January rolls around and I called asking for an update. They said it was still behind schedule, but not estimated to delivery Feb 22nd. So February 22nd roles around and i call to see what time it would deliver. We were told it was delayed again to March 21st.

I decided to check again today. Now I'm being told it will be in their warehouse March 26th, and delivered the 27th or 28th.

Has anyone ever bought from there before?

Not from Ashely, but Rooms to go, and they had a very similar issue with our Sofa, took almost 5 months to get it. They said its because furniture manufacturing has been hit especially hard by Covid. Its a good reminder we are still in the middle of a Pandemic

Its pretty normal. I bought a bed from Colemans and they delivered it like 2 months later than they said they would. overall, it took 3 months after i ordered it.

Dont ever order anything thats on backorder. It means they have to manufacture it and then ship it and a lot of times its being manufactured outside of the u.s.

I hear that. Normally I wouldn't either. But we weren't notified until after the deal was already done and cards were swiped... Figured 1.5 months wasn't too bad.

I bought a new mattress from Rooms To Go back in early December. Took over a month to get it delivered and when the truck finally arrived, the mattress wasn't in it. It makes this whole thing less surprising.

If it's made in China you better believe it's delayed. Shipping is an absolute nightmare right now with stock barely moving due to increased shipping "taxes" as well as a world wide container shortage.

I bought furniture in November from Basset, it was delivered last week. All the factories are behind right now. It will be ok.

Agreed.

With covid, people have been stuck at home renovating homes an buying new gear. Friends of mine buying kitchen appliances have back orders to second half of 2021. Crazy.

Another issue is factories are having a hard time getting employees to come back to work.

Things like this are very common right now. Would be nice if the store manager would give you some money back or something. I had a great experience with them back when I purchased my dining room table and buffet.

This is all very common right now. OP just chill. If you need to get something then get something that's actually in stock, otherwise it could take months. Even Ikea stuff has very spotty inventory so when your store gets it in stock you need to move fast because it can disappear in a matter of hours.

Alot of furniture comes out of Wuhan, China.

That plus the rest of how Covid is screwing international shipping and supply means yeh, everything is up the shitter. I wanted to buy a desk for study mid to late last year and everywhere I went was sold out (a lot to do with people working from home) and also just the fact restocking was 3 months.

Yep I had a similar experience at Ashley's in Arkansas so I avoid them unless they have it in stock.

I've bought through them multiple times. Sometimes they are really supply constrained. I've never had them try and play hard ball with me, though, and frankly I've been able to get some extras thrown in on bundled deals. You can always complain, and just maybe they will cut you a special deal on your next purchase.

For all the people shitting on Ashley Furniture, enjoy the high prices of Bassett Furniture. For the price, maybe your furniture will be made somewhere in the US out of precious hardwood. I'll probably be shopping with them someday soon. :)

a lot of furniture places are having trouble meeting demands. i guess lumber and material cost skyrocketed. that's a damn long time to wait but i'd at least wait until the end of the month when they said they'd send it. if you're super desperate to get a sofa, i'd consider getting your money back and finding one that's in stock although you won't get that deal, unless they can work something out with you for the long delay.

I'm not super hard up for a sofa. But it'd be nice to have one. It gets tiring sitting on the floor when I want to play my PS5.

Don't know the brand, but as others have pointed out: The whole supply chain of a ton of products is pretty fucked right now due to covid.

Several of my suppliers have had multiple delays getting their products. Just last week I got a call from one telling me the products that should have arrived in mid February will be arriving in late April, and last week another one let us know the product we buy from them that should have been back in stock in march won't be arriving until May.

Kinda feel like an ass constantly giving wrong dates to my customers.

we are expecting about a six month wait on a couch we just ordered. It's just the way of things right now

I learned my lesson buying a sofa from them. It's trash and they won't honor their warranty. If you have to get any warranty work done due to the poor craftsmanship it'll be an endless loop from them to the third party who is supposed to fix it and then you'll be forgotten about. I'd rather go out in the wood and forage my own wood to make a bed or chair than buy from them again. Horrible company.

Yea, bought a sectional from them 5 years ago?

Fuck this thing. Back cushions gave out years ago. All pilly and shit when we were told it wouldn't. Told the covers could be taken off and machine washed when they can't be.

Didn't even get the right sections first time around when delivered.

Just an overall shit experience. Never again.

My new dish washer has been on hold for months now. Nebraska Furniture Mart contacted us today and said the locking hatch was defective, so it’s going to be a while. They gave us $100 off and they’ll take the old unit for no charge. Yeah, it all sucks. Costco did something similar with our fridge. It had scratches on it, so we had to wait a while for the replacement. I can’t imagine furniture being any better.

I didn't buy directly from Ashley but I bought a sectional couch from a local furniture store and it was an Ashley brand.

Took me 6 months to receive it instead of a month.

Yeah fuck that. Probably not worth the wait either.

Just make a purchase on the spot or go someplace else. I recommend the overflow warehouses that usually have clearance stuff. It's usually no return policy but you can find great deals and have it delivered immediately.
