Ask the GA Forum: Job Interview Tips

I figure the OT would be a good forum to turn to for some advice.

I've got my first interview for a serious office position tomorrow morning. I'm trying to get into a private practice law firm as a part-time Paralegal (I'm currently enrolled in a University program to become a certified Paralegal) and I'd appreciate any advice or experiences you guys have interviewing for office positions.

I have job interview experience before but it's either for retail sales positions and general sales jobs (mostly cold-calling bullshit) and I'm a bit nervous about what to expect.

Thanks in advance guys.

Not much to say, just the usual: just look up some of the typical questions and think about what your answers will be beforehand. Try actually delivering those answers to someone if you're nervous about interviews.

Havent has one in a couple years but my experiences:
Go online and look at the most commonly asked questions in interviews and have an answer prepared. Remember that you are selling yourself.
Firm handshake/eye contact is important for introductions. Make sure you keep good posture/body language during the interview.

Also have questions ready to ask them. Don't say "Nope" when they ask you if you have any questions.

I also jerked off right before leaving for the interview. Kept the nervousness/anxiousness down.

Thanks for the tips guys.

My interview today actually went really well. The process was much more informal than I expected (maybe since this was a private practice not a corp.) and I seemed to impress the managing partner very early on. At the end of the interview they asked if I had made up my mind or if I needed more time to decide. I politely told them I'd like some time to think things over and that I'd call them in a day or so. I plan to call back tomorrow to let them know that I'll take the job and ask when they want me to start.

God it feels great to have real job to look forward to!

EDIT: I was going to post some pictures of hot secretaries to celebrate but Google/Yahoo image search results came up with nothing but shameless porn. Sorry fellas.

Be confident, be honest, and be inquisitive, but not forcefully so-show interest without appearing nosy.

Managers want people who will be engaged in their work and are responsible. The skills themselves are of lesser concern, as they can be usually taught easily-however, they do represent honest potential.
