Key Takeaways

  • The remake of Black Flag will include upgraded gameplay mechanics and elements, not just a visual upgrade.
  • The Black Flag remake is confirmed to be built on the upgraded Anvil Engine, which has been used since the first Assassin's Creed.
  • The release of the Black Flag remake could be as early as November 2025, pending an official announcement after Assassin's Creed Shadows is released.

Once the series stopped focusing on desmond and the original cast i stopped caring. They started popping these games out wayyy too frequently and you can't get attached too any character because they keep changing the main character.

This is where they went full theme park, no? People were critical of Desmond and the present-day storyline, and I will admit there were flaws, but my interest waned after ACIII.

As someone who loves the franchise despite all the problems, I think this one is among the worst entries and I'm always surprised how much I am in the minority with this opinion.

The actual AC stuff (basically, anything on land) isn't great, but the "pirate simulator" stuff is excellent. Game would have been better as a standalone pirate game.

I will probably be content with my memories, but it is such a good game. Fire it up, sail around and have your men sing.

And I guess that's exactly my problem. It was not a real AC and it might be a good pirate game but it was incredibly boring after a couple of hours for me. There is not much to do even on the pirate side, it becomes repetitive quickly.

Ubi not making a pirate game series using Black Flag as a base will always be one of gaming's biggest missed opportunities. They could have the "RDR" of pirate games, instead they wasted millions and millions on a fucking online pirate game.

When did you play it? I could see it perhaps not aging that well. I haven't played it since launch.

But I dunno, I found the naval combat extremely satisfying. Culminating with taking on the legendary ships at the end, which were actually very difficult to take down, even with a fully upgraded ship.

It's not as good as Assassin's Creed 2 but definitely one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've had, I'm really looking forward to this.

I hope they don't tweak with story...
I dont like if the story is remade for the "modern audience"
Which is usually disturb pique my interest

I will never understand this. Black Flag was awesome. All they had to do was make a "Black Flag 2" and print some money. Instead, they absolutely wasted a decade in a stupid direction.

AC3 was absolute dogshit the way they handled Desmond's story arc. The game itself was also the weakest of that era of AC. AC2 is still the peak of the series.

I remember loving 1,2 and brotherhood and that's it.
I disliked 3 and I disliked black flag.. all I remember about it are trailing missions, bloat and tutorials 20 hours in....
Maybe I should play some of the later games. I have origins

Origins is legitimately awesome.

Honestly, outside of Unity I kinda lost interest after ACIII.
And that's the one everyone hates, but dam I would love a remake of that one without the limitations of that era.
And that soundtrack...
When it gets to that 2 min line is so epic

Black Flag was probably the least memorable one out of all them, I can't even remember who the villain was, I just remember it ending and thinking "wait I thought that was the introduction WTF?"

Ac 2
Ac origins
Ac unity

This my list in this order.

All the others meh.

Black flag was good but too repetitive.

Ac2 was the real deal and the ending surprised me plus all the conspiracy theories and such.

BUt here we are again. We reached a new low when we have 10 plus annual entries in this serier and now we go back to remake them one by one?
No new ip?

All these super educated people with absolute zero creativity. Zero vision. Zero ideas.

I could come up with all new ideas for games in a second and i know people would love it.

Lets make a thread where everyone can post one game they would make . Story mechanics, world etc. Maybe some lazy shit dev will look at it and make something out of it

Black Flag was nice....but a remake might be mostly interesting for people who didnt played it yet. And i think the original still looks fine imho.

Hexe....sounds way more interesting to me.

agreed. I liked how the games were somewhat based on reality. Couldn't play Origin's because it felt like a different game.
I can tolerate the newer games to some extent but I agree it starts to get kind of silly... I remember in AC2 and Brotherhood and Revelations, there was a mystery surrounding the Isu and the ancient relics... forward to Odyssey and Valhalla, we get full cosplay gods like Hermes and Thor. It was be almost laughable to consider those back in 2010 or whatever during the days I used to play the Ezio trilogy.

Hope it's good, i liked Black Flag a lot apart from the tail mission's of course, the game brought me back to AC after not playing the series since the 1st one, will wait to see how it turns out.
