Just another Youtuber making a clickbait video without proper facts checking. CPU power is not some small technicality.

It's a major one to get wrong. That's why.

Wether it's PS4 that's holding back the XB1 or visa versa is irrelevant. It's not what this vid is about. It's about the fact that forcing parity and not offering choice to the consumer is poor practice. We expect them to deliver their products as good as they humanly can within the constraints of gamedevelopment.

By treating us like morons and going all in on the specs of the lowest common denominator alot of gamers are going to feel shafted and rightfully so. Imagine if the PC version was somehow upheld by this new Ubisoft standard ?

It's just a load of shit, and boogie is on point in that we shouldn't reward publishers that want to think for us, and in the process deliver a product developed with the mindset that they don't have to try and absolutely make this game as good as they possibly can.

Let's be real guys. The real problem with assassin's creed 900 is not that that number denotes its resolution.

Also, what are the odds that Ubisoft purposefully trolled with the 'no debate' quote to get people talking about their stale franchise again?
 
He doesn't know what he's talking about:

Its sad that I could see them locking the PC version to 30fps... wouldn't even be remotely surprised. What a shitty publisher. AC3 and Watch Dogs were just atrocious ports to PC.
 
let me get this straight.... ubi try and preempt talk about resolution directed at MS by directing at themselves? right....

there is no way MS paid for parity... imagine the precedent that would set for other publishers looking for some more income
 
Also let me be clear here. Im not on some anti MS campaign here. The Xbox One is pretty dope and I cant wait to play some Halo.

I just find whats happening here rediculous. If MS is in no way involved good for them. Then Ubi deserves 100% of the blame.

They are already involved because the weaker Xbone is the main reason why this shit happens in first place

Yikes, oh well its unfortunate, but it´s great that he speaks out about the parity issue. hopefully others in the media covers it as well, like IGN, Gamespot etc.

This is bad for us consumers and we need to let everyone know.

Petition time and an outcry just like the NO DRM stuff needs to happen here before other lazy ass developers follow Ubisoft. Let´s vote with our wallets, hopefully all PS4 players wont support this kind of anti consumer moves.

AC4 was terrible at launch too. The PS4 version beat my GTX760/i5 4670k combo pretty easily. I assume they fixed it eventually, but if I can't play the game a week after it comes out your porting team should be fired.

Fucking hell, you really need to learn proper forms of debate.

The simple fact is that there was no such thing as equal treatment last generation. 360 versions of multiplatform games were usually better, and publishers didn't hide away from that fact. What has changed this generation? The market leader is more powerful and easier to make games for yet you have Ubisoft, who's always had a great relationship with Sony, especially regarding Assassin's Creed, deciding to ignore said market leaders hardware advantage of gimp their product in the name of 'equality'?

If ppl weren't console warriors then AC:U would be 1080p/60 on PS4. They say it's to stop 'debates', ie: fanboy console wars.

Crazy thing to say, but it's pretty clear what they mean.

As much bs as the resolution excuse is, I find it pretty hard to defend the PS4's CPU in thinking it could brute force its way to 60fps.
 
You know this entire debacle makes me remember how the original xbox was not fully utilized by most third party developers. The PS2 was the market leader by a landslide, and it was rare to see an game on the system that fully utilized its capabilities like with Butcher's Bay for instance.

Then later in the generation we saw some discrepancies where the xbox version upped from the PS2 version graphically such as Splinter Cell Chaos Theory in 2004 another ubisoft license.

Though this situation is different as the PS4 is both the market leader and is the more powerful system, so maybe later on we will see graphical parity disappear. As for now should people start requesting for a 1080p patch for the PS4 version like Black Flag received last year?
 
I wonder why Ubisoft is so chronically awful at answering simple questions. It started with failing to point out that the method of always being the same set of polygons (Arnaud) was modeled after a shipped product (Watch Dogs). Eventually, they have to realize that simply shutting up does less PR damage. At this point, I am glad nobody is actively spewing stupidity about Farcry 4 since I am looking forward to that game.
 
This is an awful practice from devs, refusing to give PS4 owners (as well as Xbox one owners) best experience possible. There was a minor debate about the forced parity of destiny too in which I expressed the same view, but that didn't catch on like this it all. In fact in that thread there were a lot of people who claimed that forced parity was not an issue, and that those who claimed it was were just babies crying that their toy was not the best. I'm glad to see there are not many here expressing that ridiculous opinion.

So from the getgo of that 4 year development Ubisoft was aiming for 900p 30fps on both next gen consoles.....right

Even though the "debate and stuff" only started like a year ago....

It wouldn't be 60fps, he says in the article the ai system and cpu calc limits them to 30. 1080p probably.

I've already cancelled pre order. Not the biggest fan of AC either, so that made it easier. Was only interested more honestly cause a friend was getting it.
Definitely not supporting companies to give me LESS for MORE of my money (Seeing next gen games seems to get the £5-10 tax her) just because they want to make Microsoft happy. That and the principle behind it is shit. Must not be such a passionate company to purposely not make the most out of a system and this is from one of the big publishers. Just unacceptable to me.

Ubisoft have come way down as of late. Remind me more of EA every day and that isn't a good thing.
 
Dammit GAF, stop replying like crazy. I wantto read this entire thread :p. i was there when the news hit the fan. Replied on page 30 something and now its 110. Don't know if EA can outdo Ubisoft's mess, but knowing EA, if there's moneyhat errrr will, than there's a way. I wonder if this becoming the norm among developers nowadays getting the odd moneyhat to make sure the game runs good on a perceived "inferior" console. This Ubisoft news could be the tip of an iceberg.
 
Absolutely, yes. A game need not utilise every ounce of power a console offeres. Actually I even prefer if they don't completely exhauste the console, because look at what happened to framerates late last gen or on N64 (in particular in Rare's later games).

So what you're saying is that you prefer working mans graphics?
