Assassin's Creed Shadows 💮|OT|💮 Play Stealthy for Me |づ ╸ . •́ )メ

Can someone tell me the performance on a RTX 4070 laptop? I'm away from my PC for a few months lol and I want to try this. High with DLSS4 with some RT at 60fps at 1440p is enough for me. I'm not a huge fan of FG but sure, if it helps.

Note: (desktop RTX 4060 < laptop RTX 4070 << desktop RTX 4070)

Yeah man. I'm loading it up on my laptop now. I'll post back in a bit and let you know how it runs

RTX 4070, i7-13620h, 32GB DDR4

Yeah, that was strange. A huge ass pop-up telling you not to climb on the Torii gates and be respectful. Like, wtf. If you have to put in a giant disclaimer like that, just make it so you can't climb them at all. Does anything actually happen if you do climb them? I didn't check on the off chance it actually has gameplay ramifications.
I immediately climbed it, hoping they were fucking with me and there were rare rewards on top.

No rewards.

Hey guys don't climb on Torii gates, it's disrespectful. The game tells you this so you know there are some limits even video games cannot cross.

OK back to cutting off heads.
first thing i did lol then i fucked up a shrine for the hell of it

The Oda grunt fight was cool, actually needing to dodge and deflect.
At first I thought the music during the cutscene was odd, but when the fight started I felt like I was playing a chanbara like samurai champloo and it was actually dope lol 🤷‍♂️

Its in the settings menu, the one where you pick difficulty. I saw it on one of the youtubers review.
That's an accessibility option, basically a cheat, don't want to enable that. In Valhalla the assassinations were a skill check, getting harder the more levels were between you and the target, but it was possible on everyone, that's what I was hoping for again.

Rocinante618 Rocinante618 I'd say this runs pretty well. 1440p, high, RT on, DLSS Quality without framegen is 40-50fps. With framegen it is 60fps. Certainly playable on my laptop. I changed RT to "diffuse hideout only" and that squeezed out a few more frames. Taking it down to 1080p is probably not worth it. I haven't played it long enough to say if there are many dips, but that probably wouldn't necessarily be the same for you either way. I turned off dynamic rez for this, but that would probably help give you more even gameplay.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for replying! Looks like RT indeed is a bitch for performance but again I do think this game needs it to look great.

Have you put hair physics to low/character only and shadows to medium? Also put textures to medium as well ( 8GB VRAM is fine for medium ).

I guess I'll get this? Kinda tight on money rn lol I mean who the fuck at Ubisoft decided to release this after/last day of a Steam sale? I mean lol.

I think I should get 60 fps 1440p with DLSS at balanced + RT and most heavy stuff like shadows, hair and texture to medium.

I simply can't play below 1440p 60fps lol and I want the RT for this title esp. I did read at a few websites that high-medium is the sweet spot between graphics and performance so I guess I will get it lol.

I don't want to use FG. The latency is quite noticeable in most titles I tried with FG.

hmmm, I'm going wait for any patches or drivers. Will wait a week. Not really in a hurry and lol I do want to get Atomfall and Khazan + TLoU2 PC next month.

Cool screenshots, game looks great.

Didn't really get that far down in the weeds with the settings other than what I posted before. Might be worth it to subscribe to Ubisoft+ for a month rather than buying it outright. That's what I'm doing. $17 ain't bad. It's a fun game.

Not sure how but man the FG in this is good. I dont have much of an impact on this one which is sort of crazy.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Didn't really feel the lag like I've felt in the past. I was getting in the 90s with FG with my 9070 XT. Not nearly as much with the 4070 laptop, but that is understandable.

I was even noticing it in the readings. Might have just been the jump and the way the game feels.

Just FYI for the circklejerkers. This was literally in the intro of every assassin's creed game ever made.

Actually, the message was originally included because the series dealt with religious history (Christians and muslims) and it realised this was potentially controversial subject matter - the original message spoke about being made by people of diverse faiths - but when the woke mind virus started taking over it suddenly started bleating about being made by people of diverse gender identities - like anyone gave a shit. I see they've actually toned it down again which is good, although nobody should still care that the team is diverse - it's totally meaningless.

Beat the prologue. Other than changing my MTU size for Ubisoft Connect, it's been great. So far seems pretty easy (even on expert) other than Naway taking like 2 hits to kill. How do you get Naway from Naoe?

It's a name in a different language. It would be similarly pronounced in Spanish. Btw, I think it is Na-oh- Eh. No W. Considering you're typing in English; it's kind of fresh for you to criticize the pronunciation since English is pretty ridiculous when it comes to pronouncing it versus how it is spelled lol. Just in what I have written so far, little makes sense. The silent e in sense, the fact that we don't pronounce the u in ridiculous or the u or e in pronounce. Even in a simple word like what. Why is it spelled that way?

Btw, I am not being an ass or even serious, just found it funny considering English is a train wreck.

I'm really surprised how much I like the home base building idea and execution, I'm sure making the most decked out camp possible will be a lot of fun.

Regarding the rest, great first impression, I still haven't reached the point where I can freely play as Yasuke but as of now this could be the best AC game to date

30 minutes in, I'm going to crush a bunch of animators' souls but I skipped most of the Yasuke cutscenes - I just don't give a shit.

Super early impressions:

- game runs insanely good on a 4070
- combat is a joke after playing Rise of the Ronin for days
- huge difference between Yasuke and Naoe in terms of combat style
- visuals are crazy. It's definitely a step up from Valhalla. A lot more stuff happening on screen. Super crisp graphics
- Naoe story is actually pretty okay so far
- Japanese voice over is dope, can't imagine playing this with English dub
- prone is a game changer. Can't believe it took them this long

I'm going to bed (it's past midnight) and continue tomorrow. Really looking forward to it!
Did you do your month of Ubi+ in the end or buy it outright?

Once again, Quebec strikes with the no headgear mentality during cutscenes. So if you have the hood, it dissapears automatically during cutscenes

How many times do we have to go through this so that Ubisoft understands that this is not the right way to go in AC game?

Man, its annoying

The game is kind of fun. But, I don't know. Something feels extremely off about it. It's really inauthentic. Everything about it screams that this was not created by Japanese people. It feels like a really cliched, hollow, Western approximation of Asian culture. I mean, I don't particularly care, but after years of hearing about 'cultural appropriation', it's so weird that Ubisoft would make something like this.

In terms of authentic Asian culture, here's how I can sum up the situation:

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth:

I'll have to go back to a previous title to be sure but this seems like the most polished one by far. From the way the character moves to the parkour. Everything feels and looks so smooth. The stars look really good at night. I was just playing Rise of the Ronin before this and the Team Ninja combat is the only thing that game has over this and tbh, it's more arcadey, so if you wanted something more grounded, AC is it.

Is this game even fun? It really falls apart when it comes to its core mechanics. They didn't learn anything from Star Wars Outlaws
Have you play it? How do you know if falls apart? By watching some youtube video nitpicking 0.01% of cases to drive clicks? Most reviews, from people which are trustworthy says is a step up from the later games.

I really, really hate the way that you claim a shrine or whatever it is, and it throws you into an unskippable mission 'from your past'. I just want to fuck around in the open world, but I'm forced to some shitty stealth mission that I'm not enjoying whatsoever.
