First of all, Ubi can go and fuck themselves with their pos Ubi Connect which is not even working for me now unless I'll use VPN - WTF?! It worked just fine a day ago or so without VPN! And yes, you heard it right, Ubi Connect is still in the Steam version of the game, it's just that you don't need to install it cuz it's embedded like GFWL was on Steam in GFWL games. I can't tell you enough how much I hate this pos! Why can't you do like EA and just get rid of it on Steam altogether?:messenger_pouting: :messenger_face_steam:

Back to actual game though. I've played around ~3,5 hrs, Naoe just recovered and I can do whatever. Good lord is this game looks a-fuckin'-mazin':

The draw distance is insane (but I've seen a few bugs related to it, which I hope will be fixed) and just the sheer complexity of any given frame is astounding. The world feels alive, the wind simulation is great, there's all sorts of things flying around, the lighting is god-like and at night it's even more impressive cuz light sources cast shadows, illuminating the surrounding area etc. Like, I've almost zero complaints about the visuals and I'm playing @1440 with DLSS Quality (77% of native) with 99% of settings at max quality except RT which is at Very High, both RTGI and reflections enabled. It's insane what DLSS4 can do with the new transformer mode, you can't even tell that you're playing at 77% of 1440p cuz the image is so sharp and stable 100% of the time and there's no ghosting (at least I haven't seen it). Moreover, it's so cool that you can choose to have all characters in the game use a hair strand feature and not just the main characters, but I'm playing at a locked 30 FPS and during some close ups it drops to 23-24FPS, so it has a massive FPS impact in combination with RTGI.

Now, about everything else. It's just mind-blowing how good Naoe's story and stuff is in comparison to the pathetic introduction of Yasuke, it's just unbelievable and you can tell right away who the real main character is. I just can't imagine myself to care about Yasuke let alone play as him more than I have to and when I don't have a choice. Moreover, Naoe's introduction and everything before she recovers and you can move on with the story, kills absolutely everything in Ghost of Tsushima in an instant. I'd say it's a bit short and probably could've used at least one more hour in the flashback to get to know the father and other people more, as well as Naoe herself before everything gone to shit, but it gets the job done and I'm sure it was made this way to let you get to the open world part and meat of the game faster. But even with all this in mind, the Ghost of Tsushima simply didn't have a chance.

The stealth is insanely good and I haven't even seen much of it cuz there's plenty of things you can't do at the start of the game even and based on the first gameplay videos from last year. Obviously I'm playing at the max difficulty for both combat and stealth cuz it's the way it meant to be played. Anyway, stealth is great and the best in the series to date. As for the combat. I need to get used to it, to deflect attacks and all that and just more time is needed to understand how it works and how to get good at it, but first impression is possitive, I'd say it's much better that in any AC game released since Origins. Can't wait to play more, but my electricity bill will be ginormous this month cuz of 3080Ti 300+ Watt usage at full load:messenger_confounded:

It's interesting that Yasuke features so heavily in the marketing, when - at least in the 4 hours I've played - this is a game about Naoe. I wonder if the game was radically overhauled once the internet heard what Ubi was planning.

Is the map exploration walled to a single path like some people is saying? Thats my biggest fear with this game

What? So far I haven't encountered this issue, that being said I do feel like this game is more linear than previous ones when it comes to the open world exploration, environments are narrow although its still early to say but if this is true it would be really disappointing

No, it's just that exploration is easier if you follow roads and paths. You're not stuck into a walled area.

That's true in the linear TUTORIAL but not in the open world. People need to play more than five minutes.

But you can free climb everything like in Odyssey or its limited?

Game is 100% cross platform progression and seamless.

I played last night in NZ on XSX (Ubi+), loaded it on the Pro this morning and all trophies popped and my save was auto synced and I picked up right where I left off.

Playing Pro Performance mode.

I haven't tried yet. The world is like 10,000 times more dense than Odyssey though.
Yeah especially.with the missing animals, missing trees and rocks to pick up 🤦🏼‍♂️

So I can climb any mountain I see? That was an incredible feature in the modern AC era
Nope im also quite upset about this.

And no animals to.attack me. Where is the enemy variety if there's no bears or.mountain lions

Damn, thats a huge shame. Having Japan full free roaming would have been incredible

No bears or lions in Japan ... :messenger_winking:

Averaging 53 fps with the benchmark

Ryzen 7 5700X
GeForce Rtx 3070
Driver 572.16

1440
Overall preset High
Fov 100%
Dlss Performance (new model)

I will try with fsr framegen

85 avg with framegen
Thank you, would make my decision a little easier. Debating between PC and PS5 version. Guess with the same settings at 1080p (maximum resolution of my monitor), I can score nicely when it comes to FPS.

The intro was super long and stricted, hell i'm probably still in the intro 2:30 hours in, but this was the most engaging beginning out of all the 4 rpg ac.
That scene with
all the masked dudes
felt a bit tarantino-ish\kill bill-ish and i was not expecting that.

Parkour feels a bit strange coming from the previous games, controls are the same but the feeling is a bit different and combat seems way easier than valhalla for now but the animations are better.
The game should have an extreme mode, i can see hard mode becoming a joke when you get some upgrades.

Everyone should play in japanese or immersive mode, english sound wrong in this game.

Watched this. It seems I will be going for quality mode, the difference in how crisp it all looks is too big for me. Plus I sit quite close to my 65 inch A95K nowadays. Or does the 40fps mode provide a real good balance?

Someone was saying choices don't matter but they kind of do? So at the tea party, I picked the wrong chick to kill, was a bitch anyway so no regrets but now there's this whole mission in Osaka where I'm going after the right one, I understand none of that would be happening if I picked differently?
In general, I think the direction they went with mission design is a massive upgrade, where it's about finding enough clues that give you more options. So far I feel like I'm not doing enough here and kind of choosing violence where things could go much smoother if I knew more about what I'm getting into. Maybe sending scouts to areas of interest helps with that somehow?

Bro I can't believe how good this game looks.

Absolutely insane. The lighting, the density of the foliage, how everything sways in the wind, crazy detailed buildings, geometry everywhere, the animations when moving around, the hair effects.

Wild.

Pro Performance mode. Holy fuck this game looks good. Again, people are going to be triggered as hell when Yotai doesn't look this good and then be mad at themselves for being brainwashed by lying shitheads on X about the game and not playing it.

Man I'm genuinely buying it on PC just for the graphics, something I've never done.

People are going to be really triggered when Ghost of Yotai's environment isn't this detailed. Game looks jaw dropping on the Pro.

You may be right, but if Yotei is PS5 only, like it should be, it will give it a run for it's money. Remember, GoT is a PS4 game and to this day, I have never paused a game more to take pics than that game. Where it may lack in realism and detail, the last game made up for that with it's unreal vistas. They definitely were not realistic. More of a surreal look.

I just realised they scrapped the gold and ultimate editions which were like €120 and €140 or something crazy like that. What happened to them?

Are they waiting to see if the game succeeds before committing to the 2 planned expansions?

I just can't stop thinkgin' about the time when ~20 yo me reading the first Chaos Theory preview in Igromania and seeing mind-blowing visual upgrades on tiny 4:3 screenshots and thinkin' to myself - Holy shit! WTF is this I'm going to be playin' in not that distant future? Can my shitty GPU even run it (spoilers - of course it fuckin' can't)? By the time it even happened I played and finished the first 2 games probably like 20 times with 1000% stealth and killin' no one. And then the first video with shitty quality came out from presentations, gameplay demonstrations and I was in heaven cuz the stealth, OMG the stealth upgrade was insane in combination to god-like visuals and UE1 (iirc) from previous 2 games.

I think they done it again here, the main difference here being that I just wasn't even all that excited about the game before recently cuz of what was released since and especially after Origins. Now, where's my AC Shadows Amon Tobin OST, Ubisoft?

Goddamnt timeless god tier stuff right here.

You get the expansion for preordering now, because of the delay they changed it.

Pre orders must have been terrible to cancel the ultimate edition and give half of it away for free. I wonder will they even bother with the second expansion now. Personally I don't want 150 hours worth of DLC like Valhalla had.

It's not a single path, but it's a hell of a lot more limited than any of the previous RPG AC games. It's not nearly as open a world, and lacks a ton of freedom comparatively.
But you can free climb everything like in Odyssey or its limited?
Not even close. Climbing is significantly nerfed vs the rest of these games.

I don't think they'll compared. Shadows looks like what GoT would look like with better textures, better weather and lighting, and even better vistas. It really is a gorgeous game. GoT on PC, maxed out, feels a generation behind for sure.

Is this game even fun? It really falls apart when it comes to its core mechanics. They didn't learn anything from Star Wars Outlaws

Commenting so it gets reposted for more people to see what they pay for.

That'd be seventy dalla, as they say in some parts of the States of American Unification.

People in Japan are HATING the game. They want to destroy UbiSoft and join the brave culture war soldiers on X.

Assassin's Creed Shadows It's amazing how the distinctive Japanese terrain is recreated, where mountains rise abruptly from flatlands with rice fields. Flatlands and steep slopes are challenging as game environments, so developers tend to create something like the rolling hills of Europe. This, I believe, is the result of a conscious effort and dedication to somehow reproduce Japanese landscapes.

I'm a bit annoyed its showing Xbox prompts instead of PlayStation ones (Steam). How can I change it? I'm using a DualSense controller, after all.

I've never had this issue before, I have PlayStation controller support enabled

Man... I dont know about this, I have my key ready to go. The nerfed exploration is a bummer for sure

Great. Be aware nvidia and 5000 series users. If you have the latest game ready driver for AC, your gpu only runs at 780mhz and the game runs abolute ass. Man wtf is up with nvidia and their shit ass drivers...

Japan is in full revolt over the game. I think UbiSoft just started WWIII with their woke agenda.

It seems to mainly be Naoe's story because Yasuke's memories are incomplete.

Naoe, the daughter of the leader of the Iga village. She is usually a simple and innocent ninja girl who admires her 'father,' but Oda's forces and Yasuke attack...

The story is crafted in a way that's quite easy to emotionally connect with. It's scary to be almost killed by an armed man...

Huh? Where is the "revolt" in that tweet? Oh.....sarcasm? Edit: nevermind. sarcasm. Need more coffee

This is by far the best feeling and looking AC game. That prologue was the best they've had since OG games. Legit story set up.

I also always love seeing all villains in a single cutscene like some MGS or RE Village shit before you run through them one by one.

What does OT mean? I'm new sorry
