Assassin's Creed Syndicate PC Performance Thread

I got 24MB/s on uplay, it was actually faster than my Steam downloads

Steam is definitely faster for me, got around 3-4MB/s on avrage (still a far number from yours, lol)

Where are you located? I have full speed with Uplay as well as Steam.

Indonesia,,

I get the same pitiful download speed on both Steam and Uplay, 922kb/s that is.

i get very inconsistent download speed, ranging from 200KB/s to 2.5 MB/s sometimes even 0KB/s for around 30 seconds..

I just need to know what pics go with what and what he means by upsampling from 900p

900p is simply the resolution he plays in, the upsampling is handled by either the monitor or the GPU (depending on what scaling setting is used in the drivers).

900p (with sharpening through SweetFX):

That's already sort of known should have been clearer on that.
Talking about the settings(including the upsampling location including if he is on (TV/receiver pure-res-upscale or GPU/Monitor) and the (possibly)mixed up pics with the artifacts. As those could be the cause.
For example your samples shows the filtering artifacts, we just discussed at 1080p but not at 900p. Even the shadow occlusion doesn't take that into effect. So if the pictures aren't incorrectly labeled there is some interesting stuff occurring.

Just waiting for the actual person who took them to return so we can get some settings info.

I'm happy with the performance of this game. Getting averages of around 68fps in London:

AA: TXAA 2x + FXAA
Environment Quality: Very High
Ambient Occlusion: HBAO+
Shadows Quality: High
Textures Quality: High

Resolution: 2560x1440

Specs:

i7 4770k @ 4.5Ghz
GTX 980Ti (OC, core clock boosts to around 1480 fairly consistently in game)
16GB RAM
Installed on an HDD
G-Sync

Oh ok, I wasn't sure what you were asking.

The 900p shot is clearly more aliased so I'm pretty sure it's correct.

Wish settings allow for cleaning up FXAA a bit more. But thats not bad

yeah i know about that setting, nope! Crash the same! :(

Then you'll have to narrow down what's causing it, unfortunately. Try turning off RTSS, then see if it starts. If it does, you know it's something with RTSS. Do the same with any other programs that might have an overlay, or in some way activate when you start ACS.

Might not be able to use reshade brother. Happens to the best of us in some games.
Or if your just looking for a generic injector you could try one of the dozens out there. If you just want some SMAA or something.

Its early so I am reading this first thing,
Your using reshade to upscale, or wait. What. Sorry I am just...I need some caffeine I think.

I don't understand what 900p hop is either. Do you mean the hop from 900p to 1080p?

I am back to clear things up a bit :D

First of all my System specs are:

i7 2600K @ stock speed
8GB DDR3 HyperX memory
GTX 760 DC2OC 2GB by ASUS
WD Black 7200RPM HDD (game and UPlay are installed here not on my system SSD)

Next these are my in-game settings:

And i am using latest ReShade with LumaSharpen option enabled and set to 2 (i am still tweaking things so this will probably change). I also locked FPS to 30 with ASUS GPUTweak (no additional overclocking). I am getting 30FPS 95% of time (only drops i get are during carriage riding and FPS drops to 27 FPS max). I also get really big FPS drop during cutscenes for a few seconds but that doesn't impact gameplay and that is important :D

Also i didn't mess up screenshots order (i know because screens are time stamped and i know when i took each screen :D).

Here i took new set of screens:

900p upscaled to 1080p:

900p upscaled to 1080p with ReShade:

1080p without ReShade:

I need to note that every time i change resolution ReShade "restarts" so some artifacts could be possible.

Also here you can see 1080p with and without ReShade

Thanks for the repost. This is a good breakdown for people with systems struggling.
The artifacts suck but it may not crop up on everyones system.

Well beside issues that are impacting better systems like draw distance and poor textures in distant objects game looks good. And it runs good on my system. I did same thing in Unity but it helped very little, but in Syndicate just works good enough to maintain 30FPS.

Here few other screens

Not bad at oll for my system :D

I run with TXAA and some sharpening using reshade and its absolutely a tremendous picture but these are great settings for many gamers who just don't have an uber rig. Better would be Ubisoft optomizing it lol

At least game runs better than Arkham Knight (at least for me) XD

Thanks, it' not RTSS or radeon pro. Already tried with both programs closed!

yeah i need only smaa! There are other injectors out there ?

Reshade works fine. There's something wrong with your installation and or your reshape settings. Verify files and download reshade mediator and remember to use directx11

Stupid question....

I'm getting upper 70fps in game most of the time, but it does jump sometimes to high 80s to mid 60s. I have a 120hz monitor. How would I go about locking the game at 60fps? Should I just drop the refresh rate down to 60hz in game then turn on V-sync? Or should I use adaptive V-sync in the Nvidia control panel?

Already verified this, the game works perfectly without reshade :/

Download RTSS and cap it with that (and use v-sync). See the end of Durante's article for reasons why:

ya you can go to the original place SMAA was announced and he has a drop in version that should work or the various injectors you can find on google. Its a known issue with reshade and your not the only one to have odd things happen. Its fairly robust but its not perfect,.

Thanks for the help! I'm searching right now a good iniector!

I'd be happy with a TXAA setting without FXAA dumped on top of it, at least facilitate this choice in the config files. Anybody willing to tinker is going to Sweetfx that damn blur out but that combo is just overkill imo. I don't remember having to deal with this in Unity and I'm guessing tech wise there's little to no difference.

The game runs like shit maxed out on two GTX 980s compared to a patched Unity and let's bear in mind London's a ghost town compared to Paris. Maybe I set my expectations way too high, yet again.

Told myself I was gonna get Battlefront instead of this. I've changed my mind on BF after seeing it has a lack of content and no single player. Picked this up and will be giving it a shot in a bit.

Would someone kindly recommend settings for 1440p w/ a 980Ti/16gb Ram/i74770k for 60fps?

Edit:

On newest drivers. Less than 10 mins in, graphical artifacting everywhere, geometry not showing up which has me climbing on invisible shit. I was running around an area for 5 minutes trying to figure out how to get past a gate as all the buildings have hooks towards the top preventing me from climbing them. Turns out what I needed to climb to get over the gate was invisible and I couldn't see it. Framerate is all over the place with shadows and a few settings turned down. 27 mins played. I've requested a refund and will just let this sit for a while and maybe pick it up down the road. Back to Fallout 4.

Ya I had to use shades sharpening filter a bit to clean up FXAA which makes my skin crawl even being on lol. There is simply no reason to mix and match that AA.

Also weirdly and randomly I just lost like 15 frames a second and I swear to shit I can't figure out how lol. Rebooted, everything. Its like 1 mission loaded and...it loaded an entire new game lol.

Anyone have a set of recommended settings for SMAA using Reshade?

Also, should I be using Reshade's FXAA injector as well?
I left it natty and then sharpened it a bit after turning TXAA and FXAA on in the games systems.
EDIT wait actually I ended up turning SMAA off after that. I wasn't doing much
