Asura's Wrath Gameplay Trailer (SDCC)

But the Megaman legends thread told me the only thing coming of Capcom is Street Fighter and Dead Rising!

When a product manager can only say "Wow the game will surprise you" in a monotone, bored voice, then yeah... sent to die.

That was awful. The speaker's voice was monotone with no useful information to provide, whatsoever. The gameplay itself looks generic at a glance. This isn't a trailer. It's a gameplay reel with a disembodied narrator speaking with a nose-pinch.

This kinda reminds me of the "gameplay" of the Naruto 2 game, not surprising since it's the same company. But... Not a good thing. At all.

Dat Unreal Engine look. Man, what I wouldn't give for this to be based on an engine that does not give itself away by jabbing its bizarre rendering quirks into your eyes like a pair of hypodermic needles filled with drab yellow coloured piss.

Looks good. Sadly it will be another bomba so I'll wait for the 29.99 price point. Sorry Capcom but you at least have my Dragon's Dogma money day 1.

That's true if we're only talking about things that look good

if this is any example

I really don't understand why they aren't using the amazing looking Naruto engine for this game. It's so bland, barfy, and grey looking. Unreal Engine has to go.

The game still looks kinda cool though.

It is beyond me, it's like they went out of their way to make the game look ugly and probably run like dogshit!

The game engine has no bearing on how colorful the artists make their title's textures. UE3 has produced both Mirror's Edge and Enslaved, after all.

It does have a bearing on image quality and general ''jank'' though. UE3 on consoles always suffers from texture pop-in, bad aliasing and a crappy bloomy look.

It's a really shitty engine and I'm sad to see it being used by even Japanese developers now. The engine is tolerable on pc but on consoles it makes me actively avoid games that use it, it's that fucking terrible!

seriously, just get over it dude. You don't like ureal, you said it already.

I think it Asura's wrath looks great, not in this particular video because it was just random cuts thrown together. But animation looks fantastic and I'm digging the art too.

Yes, yes, and yes.

Enslaved has dat Unreal look going most definitely, as well the patented Unreal Jank. Count your blessings if you couldn't see it and Mirror's Edge only looks so clean because DICE wrote their own renderer for that god awful engine for reasons that are painfully obvious.

When I saw the original trailer I hoped and HOPED the game we'd get a game similar to GodHand but it looks like another typical action game, all flash, little substance. It's only saving grace is the cool art style and designs

Barely ANY reaction from the enemy when your attacks land. That combined with the QTE-fest gameplay, and this keeps falling lower and lower on the "will watch" list.

So basically it's a God of War rip-off with a 6-armed Akuma in it? Pass.
And running on UE3

God of War is part of the genre that Devil May Cry established. The only games in that genre that can be called God of War clones are the ones based around a chain like weapon with a very similar normal/heavy attack combo system, E.G. Dante's Inferno and that Catlevania westernmake. This game however does not qualify, it is just another game with its own spin on the combo action genre.

I was interested until that e3 stuff. When that guy went giant the whole thing fall into shittyness.

That guy in the video sounds so bored.

Well, that's sort of splitting hairs. Still it's funny, I was going to say NuCastlevania rip-off, but decided before hitting Submit to change it as GoW seems to be the cool kids' punching bag. Honestly the whole jumping in the air and throwing attacks that seem to randomly hit everything as in this video reminded me of the 2 hours I gave Castlevania before sending it back to Gamefly.

To me, the main character looks awesome. Absolutely love the character design in the game.

Too bad, because Castlevania ended up being fucking awesome.

I'll take your word for it.

Hypocritical as it is for me to be calling someone out for nitpicking in one post and nitpick the next, but the whole uncontrollable camera angle thing is a major pet peeve for me, no matter how well thought out they are.

This isn't PS1, this isn't a pre-rendered background image, why make a gorgeous environment and then limit the player's ability to enjoy it? Until I run into games where I can't control the camera, I don't even realize how important it is to me.

Here is an ideas, why not make a "Unreal Engine Fatigue OT - When good games go Ghonorrheal" thread where all us haters can direct our abhorrence by way of educational screens highlighting the many horrid faces of dat UE look and other such favourites.

Wow, cannot believe this was actually Day 1 for me. Screenshots look amazing, but in-game? They have to work that shit out.
