About This Game

A boy and girl return to their lost hometown in search of truth and to bring back what they hold dear.

Story

The town of Hallfein once rested on the border between three provinces, prospering thanks to mining and trade.
However, a mysterious tragedy struck the peaceful town, and most of its residents completely vanished.
Hallfein became a restricted area, and access was forbidden to all except investigators from the capital.

Years passed, and the restrictions were eventually lifted, after which plans to restore the town were put together. Taking this opportunity, a young man and woman follow their hearts and return to Hallfein after being forced to leave it so long ago; the young woman wanting to restore the shop previously run by her missing grandfather, and the young man hoping to learn more about the items left to him by his departed father. They both also seek to learn why the town's residents vanished that day.

The two will meet and set out on a journey in search of the truth together. However, neither could imagine just what would await them on that journey.

Field

Like Atelier Resleriana, this adventure takes place in the continent of Lantarna.

You can take control of the characters to explore the fields firsthand.
Differences between day and night and changes with the weather that weren't able to be fully included in Atelier Resleriana can now be enjoyed during your adventure.

Combat

This game inherits the tactical timeline battle system from Atelier Resleriana.
Up to three party members can be placed on both the front and back rows. Enjoy fighting as one united force, and utilize new elements such as Multi-actions, Item Mix, and Link Attacks to add even more excitement to battles.

Synthesis

The synthesis in this came is called "Gift Color Synthesis," and involves linking the different colors that ingredients possess in order to create items. Items can be strengthened even further by synthesizing along with your allies. Up to three additional ingredients can also be added in order to pass along traits, allowing for simple yet intricate synthesis!

Worries me whenever releases are this fast, Yumia didn't release that long ago. The Tales Of series feels the same way.

Then again, it's not like the Atelier series is exactly known for masterpiece stories or deep character development. At the end of the day I show up because it's a really fun Crafting/RPG gameplay loop with ascetically pleasing Characters/Visuals/Music slathered on top.

Cool.

Atelier is a good, often overlooked, JRPG series.

Solid games that aren't masterpieces but are definitely fun to play.

I really liked Ryza and got the plat but I hate how easy the games are. Makes all the crafting seem pointless.

The tales of series? Tales of Arise was the last game they released in 2021. I think they released one shitty remaster recently but that's it.

True Tales has has calmed down recently, and I admit this could just be a perception thing because I don't keep up on them, but for a while it felt to me like Tales was being pumped out every year or two.

And Arise kind of sucked anyways.

Looks like turn based combat at least. Alchemy looks awful. I just wrapped up Yumia and was very disappointed. Maybe I get this on a steep sale. The atelier series has fallen out of favor for me.

Can't wait to chill with the Resler and crew

You mean Tales of Graces F!? Bro that's one of the best remasters and a solid reference for jrpg.

It has a 4.84/5 on Playstation https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10009737

Very positive on steam. Solid meta: https://www.metacritic.com/game/tales-of-graces-f-remastered/

The game to me reminds me of all the things I love about jrpg. It isn't shitty imho. Did you try it? You may be talking about another game. Tales of Arise fugging sucks. Vesperia, Symphonia, Abyss, and Graces F remastered are the games. Good Tales games are about the characters+gameplay only. Those have good characters. Arise has no character development.

I liked Arise a lot. Other than the info dump and difficulty spike at the end of the game.

I meant as far as the way the game looks. Everything else about is probably good I'm sure. With that said I had to take another look at the game just to make sure I was right and it actually looks much much better than I initially remember seeing. I added it to my wish list cause I'm buying this when I get a chance to play it.

Dang. Yumia is not doing well on Steam. Hardly any review and now showing mixed. A huge drop from previous titles. I am a little worried about the future of this series. This game doesn't look like it addresses many of the issues of the last 2 games. They really need to go back to their roots. Interesting characters, turn based combat, and complex meaningful alchemy. I am only seeing turn based combat in this.

Am ready for new Atelier after finishing up the awesome Atelier Yumia! As expected Atelier RedWhite is back to traditional classic Atelier and looking mighty lovely.

Personally I thought the story got worse as the game progressed (Arise) and it wasn't amazing in the first place. And it was the same with combat due to bullet sponges as you noted.

Character designs were fairly mediocre. I dunno, the game still didn't do anything special for me and seemed like a mid 7s game. Nothing wrong with that, "good enough for PS+/GamePass" but not worth the time at the end.

Heads up for anyone wanting the Switch physical release: there's no ESRB version, so you'll have to import or buy the Asia version through VGP or PlayAsia, as apparently KT only listed the ESRB PS5 physical for pre-order in the US.

Edit: I went and double checked, and indeed there's only the PS5 physical version listed on the official EN website (Switch version is digital only).
