I'm wondering how the teams will stop people from just coming to the game with thermoses/drinking containers and using the refill stations to fill up their drinks.

you can bring thermoses into a game?
How much for the opportunity to see a good team play?
They could RFID the cups. Or go even cheaper and 'keurig' stamp the bottoms. Shit I should patent that.I'm wondering how the teams will stop people from just coming to the game with thermoses/drinking containers and using the refill stations to fill up their drinks.

$5 beers in a stadium. Never thought I'd see the day.

they get to see good teams all the time
on the other side of the ball
As stated in the OP:I imagine they'll still have people selling bottles of things walking through the stands.
Not to mention the free refills will probably require you wait in line; which will increase the already typically crazy concession lines at games.
https://twitter.com/AtlantaFalcons/status/732213928218988544McKay says soda area won't be behind the concession stands. Instead, soda will be self-serve refillable and away from stands for ease of use
Especially since beer jumped from $9.75 to $12 this year at Safeco. Ugh.
Well that's good; thanks for the correction.
You still will probably end up with lines at these things; and you have to miss the game to refills.
So while that will help, my point still stands.
10¢ for the cup 50¢ for like 3 refills o the cup in syrup cost, automated dispenser electricity cost a few dollars a day. Easy moneyThose free refills are gonna lead them to bankruptcy.
I doubt it would be that big of a problem. Surely there aren't that many grimey people out there.
The only thing I can think of is that coke syrup is so cheap and the Falcons must have a deal with Coke. I'd love to see the math on how much a 20oz coke from a fountain machine really costs.
This team is located in Atlanta.
These all sound great, but $5 beer worries me a little bit. They don't want people getting drunk in the stands, and $5 is a price that people are going to buy 2, 3, or 4 beers for.
Well the obvious difference between a game and a movie in regards to free refills is that there are breaks in the action at games (halftime, commercial breaks, in between quarters) that lessen/minimize the amount of time missed watching the product, so it's not quite the same thing.
The syrup is cheap but think about the lost revenue in comparison to people who would have refilled.

This is like how they give free refills at movie theaters; hardly anyone is taking advantage of it because you paid to sit and watch a movie that you can't pause. Not to mention the "consume liquids = have to pee more" factor.
It's more of a marketing gimmick to give people perceived value; "I'll guess I'll buy that, free refills!" (meanwhile the majority don't use them due to the inconvenience of missing out on the product you paid good money to see in order to use them)

How is it different than buying a couple of six packs and tailgating all morning and getting into the stadium drunk
Trust me, if you've ever worked fast food concession and sold beer to people, the price never mattersThese all sound great, but $5 beer worries me a little bit. They don't want people getting drunk in the stands, and $5 is a price that people are going to buy 2, 3, or 4 beers for.

Wait just a minute so now we have the Mercedes Benz Superdome and the Mercedes Benz Stadium???
