So we're getting our yearly bonuses this next week and I've finally decided to buckle down and use part of it for a Poker bankroll(always tried to but dipped into it for whatever). Figure I can set aside $500 to start with and play locally(1-2 and no-limit tourneys).

In 2 months, my cohort and I are heading to New Jersey on business and we've already set aside a couple evenings to hit Atlantic City. Anybody know what might be a good target figure for my bankroll by that time to play in some actual games?

Well, if this is your first time playing in a casino, I wouldn't worry as much about your bankroll rather than playing the game. Maybe take $100 one night and sit at a 2/4 table, then the next night play some 1/2 no limit (max $100 at table or some number like that).

That should be plenty of money to last you 2 nights (unless hit horrible streak). Of course you have to deal with the play at 2/4 holdem (lot of chasing, many people in pre flop), A higher limit game will have better play, but tougher players, and at a 4/8 game, money can go a lot quicker.

I personally like the Tropicana poker room. Borgata is nicest, but I like trop the best.

You have to go to the Borgata. It's not on the Boardwalk, but it is by far the best hotel/casino in AC. If you don't care about atmosphere/girls/fun, you can go to any Casino on the boardwalk. Bally's and Resorts are supposed to be the better casinos.
Play with as much money as you want.
Play with whatever you feel comfortable with. $500 - $1000 should have you set for a good time.

Borgata has $1/$2 No-limit tables - never played but hear you need about $500 to be able to play effectively. I play limit at the Sands sometimes - its the crappiest casino in AC, but you can always get a seat at the table. But limit poker sucks, so I say hit the Borgata.

If you are a poker player and you are going to AC, you need to hit The Borgata. It is an Amazing hotel, and its the only one I will stay at now, or play at now, since I never go back to the boardwalk. They have an awesome poker room, and there is casino is just plain great.

Sounds like the Borgata it is then haha.

No Indian casinos near by, only thing larger than 1/2 and 2/2 is the Casino boats. Not a huge fan of them, but I usually make out pretty well on the 3/6 and 4/8 tables. Haven't been to a dedicated casino as of yet, figure I'll hit the 1/2 or 2/4 tables there:)

Borgata has some of the hottest drink girls around

has expensive tables though Harrahs has pretty cheap tables but most the people there are 60+

borgata is an awesome casino though lots of 20 - 30 year olds
