Atomfall | Official Gameplay Overview Trailer

The Cockatrice

I'm retarded?

New trailer. My hype for it died honestly. It looks like the British STALKER 2. I was expecting more of an immersive sim. Seems like all UE5 games(edit: assuming they changed from their own) from smaller/AA studios are samey, as this looks exactly the same as STALKER 2 visually. If you told anyone this is from Stalker 2 they would agree. Even down to the god damn font and radar lmao. Atom left, stalker right.

I think it looks great.

It's from Rebellion which I love the Sniper Elite games from them. Has that same art style, but in first person. I disagree that it looks like Stalker 2.
Granted it has the same weird lighting from the Sniper Elite games, and the facial animations are a bit rough, but the world and gameplay look awesome to me.

I meant graphically ofc, since it's the same engine. Obviously the steam?punk artstyle is different. I hoped it would be more like Bioshock tho. I guess I set my expectations wrong.
I mean I sorta see what you mean, but this has a more vibrant color scheme and style going on. Much less gritty.

Bioshock is odd in way because it's colors are gritty, but the characters and style are very cartoony almost.

I meant like Bioshock gameplay/level design wise, haha, my bad. This looks to be more open-world/open-ended.

Does the melee look better? Last showing looked like crap.

The location\world look beyond generic.

Looks good. Going to keep my eye on this!

Also who's the one on here that was telling me that publisher's would stop releasing games on previous gen from November 2024? Looks like that ain't slowing down any time soon!

I hadn't heard of this, and I'm excited to see more post-apocalyptic landscapes. I agree that visually it doesn't look very distinct from most other UE5 games though.
Recently I had to drop Rage 2 because that generic open world gameplay is just such a slog. Hopefully this one will be a more interesting experience.

Hopefully survival mechanics are fleshed out and has cool areas to explore.

Is looking like a more casual Stalker, leaning towards Farcry games. Which can be fine if they have a proper gameplay hook.

Rebellion uses Asura Engine, not UE5

Not saying you're wrong, developers have changed engines before even after years of using in-house stuff, but it still looks uncannily similar to UE5. Will see.
What does look similar to ue5 games? The game looks way uglier, the characters are extremely outdated and the granular level of detail of the best ue5 games is nowhere to be seen...

It is because it looks a bit like stalker? I think it looks way more like a fallout tbh.

OP, I think you got out of bed grumpy or something today - that looks great!

The only thing that was questionable was the girl they got to read the voiceover, she was really over-emphasising random words.

The lighting, assets and vegetation, especially interiors coming from STALKER 2 looks very similar to me. UI, font as well. Eh. Dunno.

After watching this, I realized that I wanted to go back and replay The Last of Us II. So I did and "bruh" it's still so good 5 years later and it'll still be 5 years ahead.

I don't think it has survivor elements and the penalty for dead is probably like your average open world, so nothing.

It really doens't look like an hardcore game.
That's disappointing. I can't play those types of games anymore unless they're doing something truly innovative.

I doubt this game is gonna have a single line of original code from what i saw.

Not a knack on the game, i can enjoy derivative games if well made.

Survival as in looting and crafting stuff.

Dont think there is punishment for death etc.

I finally started playing Days Gone on PS5 this week. They almost had something there. It's like they flirted with the survival crafting but played it too safe being with the generic Ubisoft formula. I was hoping Atomfall would find the right balance.

Oh well, more money for ARC Raiders skins I guess...

Right balance as in?

Most survival games have options to turn off death penalty etc. Maybe it will be here too.

These games should stick you with your performance (no infinite respawns) and make you consider future objectives based on resources and your expected rate of success.

If I'm going to rob a bank, I'm going to carefully consider all my options because I don't want to get caught. In these games, you just turn your brain off and run forward because it's often more efficient to play them mindlessly. The survival genre is the antidote to that mindlessness.

Me as well ever since i played SE5, and we got 2 games from Rebellion in 2-3 months, SE Resistance and then Atomfall, can't wait for both of them. :)

Kind of reminds me of Atomic Heart.

Even if it's half as good as Atomic Heart we're golden, honestly it doesn't remind AH tho, AH was kinda a mindfuck setting.

Only one way to find out how it is. Its on gamepass if I remember correctly.

Looks good.

Open world, alternate universe, game pass. Has a modernized Fallout kind of vibe, although I'm not expecting that level of RPG mechanics.

I'll give it a try.
