Anyway, it ended at the expected place, nice way to end a season. They revealed Beast Titan's human form much earlier than in the manga, but it doesn't mean anything for now and, like with Ymir's backstory, they had to throw you a bone.
And great music, as always.

Great final episode to end the season, overall Season 2 was really great. I'm positively ecstatic that Season 3 is coming next year & will seemingly be 24/25 episodes in length. Knowing what the next story arc is, the next season needs to be 20+ episodes. Some more great moments to come in the future, looking forward to it!

As a manga reader and now in retrospective. I think a 1 cour season for S2 was the right thing.

Now in 2018 we are getting 2 cours in which we will get two arcs that are very connected,

I don't think it's Eren's dad on top of the Monkey Titan, but given the likeness he's probably Eren's evil uncle or some similar Anime trope.

I think Eren's dad is dead based on what we now know about Titans from Ymir's backstory and the S01 flashback of his dad injecting him with a syringe as a child after the wall breach. His dad had Titan powers and Eren got his from devouring him.

When Ymir said that she was assuming something. That the "Coordinate" which is the ability Eren showed wasn't located inside the walls. The coordinate is probably the key to something extremely important.

I kinda hope they do 12 episodes if they're going to be releasing them once a year, I think we only had 2-3 duds this seasons, and the rest were great. The animation quality this season was also much better than in the 1's.

I love how Historia was dancing through the air in her offensive, as the music kicked in. That and Eren's "coordinate" power awakening were great moments.

I also like how even Mikasa flinched when Eren tore off some of his flesh when desperately trying to transform. Even she was like, "Man, that's fucked up."

I wish that gif had her on Ymir's head. The way she positions herself and then launches was so badass.

Damn, that was a good episode and wrapped up things pretty nicely for a short season imo. The whole Mikasa part was kinda weird (but sorta fits if you consider she probably thought everyone was about to die), but all those Coordinate scenes were wonderful. We had a lot of information given in these past episodes too, despite feeling that we have gotten new questions. Really glad to hear that we're getting more next year.

Why must Eren only NOW realize that a small detail of his powers is commanding a horde of fucking titans? After two seasons and a trillion deaths? I'm guessing next season he finds out he can also manifest titans out of thin air

I don't think he knew for sure - IIRC he mentions to Reiner "and if it turns out Eren isn't the coordinate we'll come back" or something like that? I think it was just a hunch based on Eren - who grew up within the walls - somehow having titan abilities.

As for the second point, Eren just discovered those abilities now, and it took a ridiculously dangerous and heartbreaking situation to do it. The risk of Eren acting out previously was far lower.

So there's something bothering me about the ending credits. Most of it seemed to be meant to be taken more-or-less literally as a prologue to AoT, but I'm not sure what to make of the crossed out woman at the very end. Am I missing some obvious parallel with the show or real world artwork that might give some insight on what it means?
