Attention to detail in Splinter Cell

I don't think I can replay this game again and enjoy it like I did the first time, but I love this video.
I can only say about the first game - the controls definitely need getting used to even for some pretty basic actions, but the rest still holds up. Plus if you haven't replayed the game(s) in many years everything will feel fresh. I remembered several levels from the first game (like the first one or the CIA HQ), but a lot still felt quite new.

The attention to detail is impressive. Devs in the olden days were only limited by the tech of the day. Modern day western devs are just limited.

Played it at launch in 2002... 24 years ago. That was a great gaming experience. How evolved gaming since then ? When I saw the use of IA in F.E.A.R, Half Life, or this, I was seeing a great future for gaming. But no, now games are all made to casual morons, gameplay experience was never improved since then, in fact it was downgraded so anybody can play directly (this a 2 hours of tutorial)... I am for accessibility but I hoped a different future for gaming.

Great game that badly needs a remaster, I can't shake the feeling a modern remake will kill it. Needs the Tomb Raider treatment and leave it at that.

Remaster plz

More people should be aware of this awesome fan project:

-native controller support
-restored graphical enhancements from xbox
-ps3 hd textures
-checkpoint system
-widescreen and unlocked framerate
-steam deck compatible
-playable cut levels
-new equipment dlc cut content etc.
-qol and bug fixes

Version 1.4 got released this year, this is in very active development.

I played some Chaos Theory on PS2 last night. Rough port.
That's the version I played originally. I still loved it, but I didn't learn about the better versions of the series until years later.

And then you have the whole Double Agent situation.

This game absolutely blew my mind.

I worked at EB Games when the sequels came out with multiplayer and it was some of the best times I've ever had with a video game.

When you grabbed someone, proximity chat would activate and you could say something to them before snapping their neck lol

We would alternate between this, Rainbow Six, and Ghost Recon. Every night. For years. Miss it!

I was around 20 years old at the time, working until midnight and every night after my shift I would play Spies versus Mercenaries with the same teammate. Those days were my best gaming experiences of my life.
