Something to keep in mind - if do you commentary, this will mess it up.

You will have to watch this video, as you have to extract the audio, and change the tempo.

How to make Youtube gameplay clips playback in true 60 fps:

How to make a Youtube gameplay clip 60 fps:
- Record at 60 fps ingame with any recorder/Nvidia Shadowplay
- Rip/Convert the sound from it with VLC/dbPoweramp to an mp3
- Change Tempo (not pitch) of the mp3 in Audacity to -50%, export
- Repeat with any commentary/audio you plan to add to the video
- Import original 60fps video to your editor and mute its audio track
- Add the "changed tempo" audio and sync it up with the beginning
- Drag the video clip to be equal in length, this makes it true 30 fps
- Clipping the audio and video layers at the same time is important
- Check so that the audio does not sound like it's in a lower pitch.
- Export with your H.264 mp4 settings at 30 fps, won't lose frames.
- Upload your 30 fps slowed down clip to Youtube, play at 2x speed
- Go here if you still use the old Youtube player and can't change it

Doesn't work for me; using firefox, I set it to use the HTML5 player, but it's presumably not doing it, because I don't have the speed options on any of those videos. Halp.

As mentioned earlier, the bandwidth of the internet. Not their servers, and perhaps not your internet connection at home. I'm talking about the entire internet. There is only so much data that a given network infrastructure can push. Youtube accounts for a huge portion of that. Some people point to the fact that Netflix accounts for a higher portion of bandwidth than Youtube, but keep in mind that Netflix is only in a handful of countries. Youtube streams all over the world, and it's responsible for a staggering amount of internet traffic.

You have to understand that on this scale, where literally billions of people are using your service, there is no such thing as a simple change. Yes, Youtube offers poorer streaming quality than many other services. It's a victim of its own success. It is precisely because of how widely used it that making a "simple change" like adding support for 60fps is not possible.

It's not that they can't do it or don't want to do it. It's that the internet can't handle it.

..but surely if the internet can handle 2k videos at 30fps..it can handle 720p videos at 60fps?

No bueno?

It's just a hassle and in the end most people just don't end up setting the speeds right. It's one of those things that has potential to work but there's so many weird hoops that in the end doesn't really seem worth it.

Download the free HTML5 addon. The link it's in the description.

Amazing trick.
It's a real shame the big gaming sites don't allow for all their playthroughs to be recorded in 60fps...it's every bit as important as resolution. It really makes the visuals shine.

They're doing 60fps software a major disservice (the same goes for the publishers as well).
I believe Twitch allows 60fps.

This is what I used to do in high school to get that 60fps look on the Counter-Strike videos I made. It being .avi/.mkv though.

Giantbomb does 60fps.

I guess the limitation is the bitrate. But then again - surely if you can have a 720p60 video at 10Mbps, then it's not a difference to have 2k30 at 10Mbps?

This won't work if my capture card only supports 30 fps, right?

Edit: Nintendomination, eh? I guess he flips the bird to 30 fps like he does to EA.

Hmm, so is 360p the only option with this add-on enabled? It doesn't give me any other res options.

Should be a dropdown

Why does this HTML5 work so well and Youtube vanilla is so garbage?

I have the opposite issue, the HTML 5 player didnt load very fast and everytime I switch between full screen and the windowed player, it would have to reload the video, but it would keep track of where I was at. I tried to un-install it and it wouldn't switch back to the old player on some videos :/. I don't know if this is just an issue with the Fire Fox version or not. Personally not a fan since I usually either load a video in a separate tab, and for some reason I like to switch between full screen and windowed a decent amount. I had originally downloaded the add on to view bayonetta 2 at 60fps.

Do it my way:

I had to use VDub to blend the frames after forcing interlacing and downsizing the vids from 1080 to 720, but it works as a work around. Download the vids as the browser might not play them at perfect speed if it's being bogged down.

I rather like this method. Partially because it works on all versions of YouTube, and because it introduces new visual information as a sort of motion blur effect.

Meh I can't get it to work in Opera in either the new one or the good one.

I guess I'll start making some F-Zero GX vids.

I swore I would never make any because I didnt' want to display that beautiful game at 30fps.

If you just want to check it out without changing to the HTML5 player on your main account (although it's easy to change back anyway) just open www.youtube.com/html5 in an incognito window, change the setting and then watch the videos in incognito as well. I hadn't seen that Mario Kart 60fps one before. Looks great.

I'm not sure if this would work but could people potentially upload videos at half speed so that they play at normal speed at 60fps?
