Authentic & creative decor suggestions for halloween/fall

Its time to get in the spirit of the samhain season!

I finally have a house to settle into for awhile and want to start amassing decorations for the seasons. but I can't stand cheesy/basic/cartoony decor. Ihope to turn my carport into a "haunted house" for trick r treaters in time.

does anyone have specific suggestions of their favorite and quality decor?

im looking to buy some cool candles and candle holders. etc.

do you have favorite techniques you use or have seen for creating haunted house rooms?

for example ive seen people put bang snaps on the ground for kids to step on and get startled....
also using black garbage bags to create lightweight walls section off areas

general ideas currently:

hay bale
dried cornstalks
homemade murderous "scarecrow"
smoke machine
orange string lights / orange bulbs for porch/patio lighting
black lights
gourds
burlap for table runner/placemats
animal skulls
spooky soundtrack
jackolanterns
candles/candle holders
satanic ceremonial/sacrificial area - could set up a table, a ring of stone and upside down cross / pentagram / sigil of baphomet /etc.
creepy hanging doll/bone/stick mobiles

thanks!

Also:
  • Get a somewhat realistic lifesize female doll, blindfold it, tie its arms behind its back and its legs to the chair (S&M scene to disturb kids). You can also get a second male doll and put it in a faux leather outfit with a head cover, holding a whip.
  • Put lifesize heads on pikes/stakes, line them up next to each other, and put fake blood all around them and dripping down the pikes
  • Get a fake cross and put a lifesize doll on it, crucified upside down. This would also work with a fake doll taped upside down to your front door using fake nails or chains so it looks like it was executed
I can keep going.

Madame Leota using an acrylic globe and tablet, it's easy and looks really cool.

I also make these ghosts from cheese cloth and a Styrofoam head. You use 50% white glue to 50% water and paint it onto the cheese cloth on the head, use several pieces of the cheese cloth at different lengths then let it dry and pull it off the head. Hang them in windows and trees with fishing line and put an led black light on them.

holographic ghost projectors baby that's that future

I've done this on an upper window the last couple years using a Sony home theater projector, it looks amazing. This year I'm planning on doing projection mapping on our house with a short throw projector.

The ghost in the upper window goes back and forth and looks down at the trick or treaters, the pumpkins talk and sing.

think im going to build some fence decor this year from reclaimed wood pallets

what do you have planned for this year? i typically wait too long to set up, so i'd like to kick it in gear early to create and prep
