Hmmm... I have to wonder if releases like these could open the floodgates for other works like the Studio Ghibli films, depending on how future-proof was the process achieved by Panasonic Hollywood Laboratories (PHL) on the releases for the Ghibli Ga Ippai Collection current Blu-ray Disc, of course.

We know the 35mm film negatives from them was scanned at 6K, and it was worked on parting with a 4K conform DI from which it was definitely authored... but I'm not aware of specific details about the pin-registered scanning method used, and its parameters (resolve capacity or density range of the negative captured). They could have perfectly be 'UHD BD ready' right now!

That would be pretty fantastic! Ghibli's older titles could shine even brighter in 4K on the big screen. As for home video, I'll probably be sticking with my regular BDs of their titles for the foreseeable future. I don't have a 4K TV or a UHD BD player, and there's not a lot of incentive for me to upgrade right now.

This episode wasn't really necessary.
Didn't like to see Nero smiling at the end, good thing he was spotted.

Do we know what resolution the digital Ghibli films were mastered at? Though I suppose more than anyone else, they likely have the resources to redo them at a higher resolution if need be.

Yeah I can see the appeal of the aesthetic of actual art but I can't see a way for it to work except on limited prestige tv shows or full length film productions. That so many smaller, limited tv budget studios are still mostly scanning is mind blowing to me even with the challenges of existing tools being designed for a different workflow.
Yeah it's truly insane when you realize some studios deliver materials to broadcast stations the day or sometimes hours before airing for some episodes.

Rather weirdly and unexpectedly, the first episode of that new Nanoha spin-off, Vivid Strike, seems to have appeared in subtitled form on Amazon Prime in the UK.

Thunderbolt Fantasy 13

This was much better than expected!
So Urobochi is really good, when he does things out of passion and not because he is hired to write a few episodes.

91 Days Episode 12

I think the episode threw a shot at those who were expecting a "bloody" finish, It dealt with the themes of the series to perfection,
Angelo just showing that he achieved nothing by killing the Vanettis on his revenge and Nero understanding Angelo's reason, accepting and moving on.

Also that open end to interpretation leads to the best script, the one in our imagination

I was satisfied.

That's very unexpected, especially after nobody touched the last Nanoha series.

And that's not to mention the fact that it's not supposed to have aired yet.

Still, just watched it since I have a prime account. Sure is a cartoon about little girls thumping each other.

I remember I got some flak for saying this but Urobuchi is easily one of the better anime writers working in the industry.

That's not a particularly high bar though

Were people really expecting something like that?
I think the whole episode was rather predictable, though I really liked the idea of an ambiguous ending. The obvious outcomes were Nero killing Avilio or Nero letting him escape, and we got a Schrödinger hybrid.

I guess Amazon really doesn't care about what they pick up, as long as it adds to their library.

Just to inform everyone here, I wish you a happy good time on the newer anime show. As for me, I will be passing on from this place for a bit of time as something have come up and I will pop by somewhere in south east Asia to my home country. Don't know if I will come out alive from this but will say, it was a great time here with you people here. I hope I will come back here once everything settle on my side and start going through the backlogged of show I didn't have time to get through right now.

I would go as far to say that he's straight up the best one. At the very least I don't think there's anyone as versatile as him in the industry.

Good luck.

So it seems like because of the Crunchy/Funi deal, Sentai is putting their shows on other streaming services...

...I have never heard about theanimenetwork before today. I've never heard anyone else mention it either.

I would say he's very good at writing engaging characters who certainly fit some anime tropes, but still defy enough to be fresh.

91 Days End

I'm a sucker for ambiguous endings like that. It's up to you if it ended in the worst possbile way (everyone dead) or the best way (Nero lets Avilio live and Nero gets away and starts a new life).

It used to have a bunch of stuff on it for free, but then it underwent a massive change and put all its shows sans their first episodes behind a paywall.

I can't remember if they ever did simulcasts before now.

Regardless I hope Crunchyroll can still simulcast the shows as well, as the announcements don't say they're exclusive.

I was expecting a bloody ending because this is an anime that had characters like Fango and Machete in some episodes but despite that I was more than satisfied with that ending.

I agree completely, what defines a good mafia story: the futility of all.Ambition, revenge even brotherly bonds all end in nothing, there's always a meaner SOB waiting with a gun in the next corner.

Thunderbolt Fantasy shows Urobochi is amazing at dialogue and little character details. Since its a generic Wu Xia story, it doesn't have to have the level of bombast Psycho-Pass and Madoka have and it can just be fun. I think it being puppets lends a lot to it as well because of the body language, everyone has unique movement patterns (and speaking patterns) which would be hard in anime.

Alderamin END

Of course, they make a twist that makes the story a lot more interesting just at the end of a show that probably won't get a second season, of course!

Jojo

I think this is the first episode of Jojo that I found a bit boring.

Thunderbolt Fantasy END

Pretty convenient revelations at the end for both main characters but still enjoyable. Good to know that it gets a second season.

I already commented about 91 Days and I can say its become my favorite show for this season, followed closely by Mob Psycho 100.
