Avatar 2 Concept Art

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?

I searched GAF to make sure this wasn't already posted. Please no hurt if it was.

Anyways that's concept art for the uneccessary Avatar 2. Fwiw I liked the first movie but I guess Cameron needs more cash money for deep sea dives.

A lot of the art looks very game-ish. I just wanna double jump across those pretty floating platforms.

I just don't care. Without the novelty of 3D, there's nothing really special about the first one.

Honestly I think the only way I'd muster any enthusiasm for a sequel would be if they announced it was actually a surprise Warhammer 40k crossover and was going to be 90 minutes of super over the top Xenos and Heretic purging.

After the massive success, you'd think they would of milked this movie to death but instead took their sweet time with it... 10 years is a long time to release a sequel
I actually liked Avatar. I know it got a lot of hate but I enjoyed it. Cameron is a master and more of a modern Spielberg than JJ could ever hope to be. Shit, maybe Cameron should have directed Star Wars 7, 8 and 9.

But good taking the time. Personally I think it's unnecessary but I'm still curious what direction this will go.

Ah....

Too bad a live action 40k would never happen mainly because of how blatantly they rip off every movie and game but still a great setting.

I'd like to say if anything though, Avatar resembles Halo more aesthetically.

It's insane to think that most Tv's don't support 3D anymore, so the only way to view avatar 3D in 3D is to buy an old TV that supports it.

In 20 years time, watching Avatar in 3D will be viewed like watching old movies in film and on widescreen

Edit. Avatar 2 should be a VR movie

cool man at least someone is trying to push sci fi visuals a bit

still looks a little Black Light Poster to me but hell that can still be fun if done right.

These are great. I was initially excited until the kids..

I usually don't doubt Cameron. I guess will see.

I don't even pay to see 3d movies. The only two movies I saw in 3d were Avatar and Tron 2.

It gives me headaches and they look like shit exception being Avatar.

We still have Real 3D and IMAX 3D movies all over the place here.

Tbh I would like to go to one of those 4D movies where it's like a theme park ride with motion seats and has the smells and whatnot.

I think we only have one or two theaters that have it in town.

I've only seen Avatar in 3D (true 3D) I got dragged to some final destination 3D with a chick once and it was terrible.

I think it's a shame that Avatar 3D will disappear to the Aether because it's a dead format now. Watching that movie for the first time was revolutionary. I classed it as a modern-day 'Jurassic park'

What is it with having large casts of kids now? This and Ghostbusters 3 and I think there's a couple others but this is kind of a worrying trend.

Spielberg pulled it off with Goonies and E.T. but those were different times and feels, etc.

Wish Cameron would ditch this Dances with Cats garbage and work on something else. How long has he been doing this now? The dude’s not getting any younger and I’d like to see what he has left in him rather than doing, what....four movies in this franchise? Ffs, move on. This universe isn’t nearly compelling enough to spend such an amount of energy and time on. It screams generic at every seam.

I dont care at all really. I did not like the first one at all. The 3d effect was pretty cool and all but I stuck my head in the 2d theater and the picture was much clearer. I wish I'd gone to see that one.

Only thing in it I liked was sigourney weaver. Other than that I was bored shitless. I didnt like dances with wolves when I saw it, and I didnt like it again in avatar.

I really think that if it didnt actually have a good representation of 3d it wouldn't have been as popular as it was. James Cameron damn near had his first failure but it was rescued by his technical prowess.

I suppose there is no new gimmick with the sequel?

I heard Flight of Passage at Disney World is pretty awesome though.

I saw some pics of it and I dislike the movie but I'd love to go on that. I'm a sucker though for gimmicky rides though. Like the shit ones in Gatlinburg Tennessee I still enjoy like the big dinosaur boat ride. Even like rain forest cafe, the food isnt that great but I liked the theme gimmick restaurant.

I hear you brutha.

I despise and loathe Harry Potter but ngl that goblin bank ride at Universal looks amazing.

When we ever gonna get AAA quality Lord of the Rings/Middle Earth rides and attractions?

Absolutely can't wait for it, gimme some gorgeous 4k HDR 3D James

My ass will be in a dolby theater if they release Avatar again in that format, which absolutely will happen

Dunno if gimmick or not but supposedly its almost entirely underwater. They also filmed everything underwater, including actors, which is why it took so long (mocap must have been a fucking nightmare)

which makes me think, if they re release Avatar 1, the box office addition will count, right ?

That's Avatar's fault.
The dumbasses in charge - including Cameron, I suspect - made the 3D Blu-Ray exclusively available as a bundle with Panasonic TVs for 2 years. Making 3D's killer app exclusive to one TV brand obviously slowed down adoption.

3D TV was never viable with the technology available. When the tech became available, VR stole its' thunder

So a new artbook is out (it's already shipping and the digital version is available). It was delayed for more than two years.
There's not a lot of sequel information, but it has new renders of Na'vi clans, flora, fauna and items. It includes things from the park, the Cirque du Soleil show and the 2009 game. So I guess they're all canon. There's so much thought put into this and it's all very pretty. Looks like they're trying to establish a big multimedia franchise and universe.

I rewatched the Avatar Blu Ray a few months ago when I got my new TV and it's crazy how good it still looks.
The art direction of the world is still amazing, and in going full CG for large parts of it it really looks more consistent than most modern blockbusters. As much as the tech has advanced and as much money as Disney throws at something like the avengers, the mix of real actors with CG elements still looks distractingly fake.

I'm really looking forward to this. The story might be generic but the movie was a lot of fun.

I've had ruined orgasms less disappointing than this image.

I don't get the point of this sequel. The first set a benchmark in 3D and is yet to be surpassed, so why make a sequel on a normal screen? Cameron has waited 87 years to release this, just wait another 3-5 and release another 3D/Smellovision/VR version. Wierd shit.

The problem too is that in America they would charge 35 bucks for 3D Bluray vs 20 for a standard one. In Europe 3D Blurays cost as much as a standard bluray, because guess what, it's the same disc as any other bluray disc (just a different video format on the disc).

They got too greedy in America. I import most my 3D blurays from the UK as even after shipping it ends up costing me about 17 dollars instead of 35 here.

Well, I guess Avatar 2 will show what the point of Avatar's future is. Theoratically the story could go anywhere from hereon in. I love the flawless pace of the first movie and liked the characters well enough but like everyone else wasn't blown away by the story. So I'm SUPER curious what Cameron and his team came up with to justify 4 (!!) sequels.

You know how the saying goes... Never doubt Cameron.

That's the thing about Avatar being so visually amazing because of the 3D; I have no idea what happened in the film. It was an amazing film to watch, outside of the visuals it beats the hell out of me about what happened. Something about blue people and unobtainium being unobtainable. Avatar 2 could have the best story in movie history. Without that visual hook, I just don't think I'll care. How many others are in the same boat?

I'll never write off James Cameron though, because James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does, for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is James Cameron.

"The first teaser trailer for the film is stated to be attached to the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 6, 2022."

"Now, Zoe Saldana is telling future viewers of the film to “brace themselves” after being treated to a viewing of the opening 20 minutes. Speaking to journalist Kevin McCarthy while promoting Netflix’s The Adam Project, Saldana said she was shown the footage “right before the year ended” in December 2021, and said that she was left in tears by what she watched."

It's in variable framerate, 24 ramping up to 48. Will probably do for HFR what Avatar did for 3D.
