So i spend a shitload of time on the boards and when i find there are no threads to post in or whatever i start to look at people's profiles, info, avatars, etc. When i'm doing this i find that the mods are slacking (most of the time) when it comes to enforcing the avatar limits (90x120 <150k).

Now don't get me wrong, i know it's a bitch to run a message board and that's why i make this proposition to become the GAF's avatar nazi. I know there are mods that have different levels of power, and in this case i would just want the power to switch people's avatar from one that doesn't abide by the law to the "your avatar is too tall, or too big" pic. Order must be kept on GAF!

Who was the guy who once had an animated avatar that had nearly everyone's avatars in it? That was a neat idea, although I think I was left out at the time. :( I don't even remember what my avatar was back then though.

No, this was a year or so before that. He had at least a few dozen to a hundred or more avatars, each as a single frame in the thing. I think MAF may still even have been a mod back then.

Oh, come on, at least link to their profile pages or something... I'm curious to see exactly how over the limit their avatars are, but just too darn lazy to do the cutting and pasting for myself.

i'm not trying to act holier than anyone. If you read the first post you'll see i was asking for a duty that i do in my spare time anyway (check avatars) that could also help the board and 56k'ers. Wellington asked me to post some names so i did.

Anyway, kidding aside... Go to a gym or something. They're usually open late. It's more productive than getting fat watching avatars.

If people who are breaking the rules spent 3 more seconds on their avatars this thread would never even have existed. ;)
There are clear rules, a huge majority knows them and follows them. And then there are people who just choose to ignore the very same rules. So why should the majority follow the rules, when they see a small group is allowed to break them? Thus, we have reached the beginning of the end.

Cue one month later, and threads are cluttered with 300 kb animated, half-naked girls shaking their jugs, or funny bananas humping each other in a totally unoptimized animation that clocks in at 500 kb. And with 40 people on a thread page having these kind of avatars, the brave users on 56k modems will cry themselves to sleep. Hell, even people on lower-speed broadband connections.

But then again, I have a bias for ultra-clean, perfectly optimized avatars. :D

However, since my avatar is only 27k and you're being a dick, I'm not gonna change it. :p

EDIT: Okay, so a mod changed my avatar like 10 seconds ago. WTF. Still, whatever. Try being less of a dick in the future and you'll get better results.

My avatar looks so much nicer at 100x120, but the size limits made me reduce it to 90, thus making it crappier looking and harder to read.

Thanks a lot, deadlifter!
