Averaging Gradius

This guy took recordings of 15 different people playing the first level of Gradius and combined them into a single video, as a sort of experiment to see how different people handle the same situations in games. It's a bit messy to watch, but interesting nonetheless. I know it's pretty obvious to back up before a boss to get your options in a line, but I didn't realize how many people dance around like an idiot beforehand like me :lol

It's rather weird how they all destroy the core at exactly the same time.
It's very interesting to see how other people play the game too.

Watch closer, or read the article. Boss times out (probably a NES thing, as I don't remember the arcade doing that).
 
I'm guessing Gradius looks like that to some people normally, while under the influence.

That's really cool, though. We do similar experiments like that in our usability division.
 
as awesome as that is - it's almost impossible to keep tabs on whats going on.
they should do this for more games.
