who the fuck buys these games is what I want to know. There is obviously an audience for them since they keep making them but I've never met a single person who plays them and I know a lot of nerds.

It's a F2P title, so who 'buys these games' doesn't apply here. As for who plays these gacha games, there are 2 gacha game OTs here in the gaming section that are very active, with over 2k comments each.

Then there are the Genshin and FGO OTs in the communities section of the forum as well, so I guess there are plenty even here on GAF who enjoy playing them?

Edit: Here are the OTs I'm talking about:

Man, it's so sad to see Girls Frontline 2 didn't get the same attention here :messenger_downcast_sweat: It's SUCH A GOOD game (the best one even, when it comes to storytelling, writing and character development imho), yet almost nobody cares :messenger_pensive:

I get it, there's way too much F2P gachas and not only do you need to choose which one to play (and porobaby support as well, if you really like it), but at the same time you have traditional games, but man, people really need to play GF2 - but before that watch GF1 story recap.

In regards to the Azur Promilia though, no thank you. Too much + - the same F2P gacha games that look extremely similar in almost everything they're doing - open world, combat, character designs etc. Like, remove the game's name and I could've sworn that it's a new major update for WuWa with updated combat, added mounts and farming sim elements.

I've heard only good things about GFL2, but I already play way too many gachas: WuWa, ZZZ, Genshin, Heaven Burns Red. I've also recently added HSR to that list since I've started playing it more seriously now, which means I'll have to drop one of the games I'm currently playing in order to give GFL2 a fair shot.

I'm personally more excited for Arknights Enfield and Ananta, but this Palworld + Genshin inspired gacha looks pretty promising too, so we'll see how it turns out.

It has its own OT, just not very active
And it's not much to discuss as it's story driven "V6 Klukay kill them all" game

It's the same as saying there are too much SP games.
And I will disagree about too much - there are like 3 high profile open world games (Genshin, ToF, WuWa) and each of them has strong and weak points and choice is not that great if I want something to suit my taste - I really not fond of real-life countries jumping setting (don't wanna play boring countries like France) and WuWa copied that completely from Genshin, along with other annoying stuff.
Some niche SP genres has better variety.

Fair enoguh, but if someday you'll decide to finally play it, here's a word of advice - watch all this in preparation. GF2 is a direct continuation of GF1 and both games are very strongly connected narratively as well as when it comes to characters.

I haven't played the first game, but watching such a long ass recap of GF1 events not only elevated GF2 story to heaven, but also made me way more emotionally connected to all of the characters, the commander and how much he / she cares about the dolls like no one else does. You know so much about what they've been through 10 years ago during all of the missions, events, time spent together etc. and then you meet one of the characters who is completely different than in the first game, but in the first game this character was so much more open, so young and child-like...

Man, no words can describe just how good this series is and GF2 leagues ahead of GF1 in terms of gameplay, production values and presentation, while at the same time providing just as good narrative and writing quality, dialogues and everything else.

1) Something tells me that very few people here have 416, let alone all dupes of her.

2) You can "kill them all" without 416 just fine, believe me, provided you have characters from the standard banner, two of which are top tier DPSs :messenger_smirking:

3) There's plenty to discuss in terms of gameplay, combat challanges and stuff, there's PvP, clans, things you can play with friends etc. 🫲 :messenger_confused: 🫱

You can, but the difference between Makiato-Quinli-Tololo-Suomi and V6 Klukay on average map is staggering - she wipes half a map in 1 turn and I even not bother to switch her from boss mode (wide 3 aoe) to trash mode (wide 7 aoe). She is somewhat local Miyabi - you can play without her just fine, but having her makes game extremely easy

And her corrosion team (Klukay-Peri-Mechti) do wonders in Gunsmoke

As for OT - there are just lack of active people in discussion, most just play silently as game pose little hardships and quite straightforward. I would probably participate if active discussion would go, but have no time to drive it myself.
