Bad art! Rejected xbox 360 designs....

Actually, according to the article, it's "chill", not white...whatever the fuck that is.

Also, I personally, like how the 360 looks. It looks sleek and the ring of light is both functional and stylish. At the very least, the console certainly superior to both PS2 and PS3.
:lol "chill", M$ is coming up with some real hip terms for their console. First the J.Allard extreme makeover and then the XB 360.

Regardless the design for XB 360 might be good but yeah it's mainly the color that isn't sitting well with me. Damn it, everything I own is pretty much all black and I'm not going to change.

Yeah...imagine if they went with that...
It looks like a gasoline can.

Still, it's not trying so hard as 360, so I like it more.

Ahahaha!! These console aren't people, dude. Both Sony and MS "tried" very hard with their console designs. They both spent loads of money coming up with them. :lol

I don't know that I would say the Xbox 360 has unnecessary curves. The Playstation 3's design looks like its nothing but an unnecessary curve.

You're kidding me. PS3 looks next gen. It doesnt have a shitty tray either. MS = cheapskates :lol

You have to be kidding, the PS3 looks like a griller and the 360 actually looks like a peice of art. Then again if you had any idea of who actually designed the 360 you would change your tune.

The X360 isn't ugly by any means, but MS completely failed at taking advantage of the defining change in this generations consoles (from a design perspective)- they're wireless. The fucking memory card slots, the not so hidden trap door for the usb controlers, the ir reciever that fails to blend in and the chrome tray all result in something cluttered, full of ports and that looks very much like a console.

Sony on the other hand went all out. Slot loading, presure sensitive integrated 'buttons', a lid that is actually integrated into the design, and an overall symetry that results in a sleek, smooth looking device that doesn't fit the image of consoles.

I really like the Xbox 360's design. Looks Apple-ish...

No, no, it doesn't. Just because it's white, doesn't mean it looks Apple-ish; that just means it looks white.

There is a good reason why slot loading disc drives are a dying breed. So try again smart ass.

There are numerous problems and some of them I have experienced personally as I have had multiple different slot loading dvd drives.

One of the most common problem is that it is either impossible or hard to play anything that isnt a standard 12cm disc. And even if it can play 8cm discs, it can refuse to read it until you insert it "correctly". Very annoying problem.

Other problems is that atleast all slot loading drives I have seen do not have any kind of eject mechanism that can be operated on the drive itself without using eject in the OS or rebooting the system. Understandable why they neglected to implement it, but still very annoying if the disc doesnt want to eject. And is a major problem if a disc gets stuck.

While a slot loading player supposedly has less movable parts than an equivalent tray loading player, they still seem to be more prone to completely die. I am talking about the "sucking" mechanism here. It is not uncommon that you have to force the disc almost all way in until the "sucker" recognizes the disc and "sucks" it in.

I support this post.
Those slot loading are there primarily because it's cool and futuristic looking. ( $$$$ )

I've only used cd slot loading drives (I don't really see how dvd drives would be much different, though) and I've never had any problems. And I haven't come across one that didn't have the eject mechanism on the drive itself. I'm not too worried about the motor failing as I've used my car player much more than any of my game systems so I don't think that would be an issue. Maybe I'm completely missing something but I don't see any problems with it.

I've never used one that took smaller disks, though. But with the reliability of Nintendo's past systems, I'm not worried at all.

My DVD-ROM player had that problem. It annoyed me so much I threw it away and bought a proper one with tray instead. Slot loaders suck indeed.

Slot loading drives also have the not-inconsiderable issue that you have to dismantle the entire thing to get at a jammed disc, a not-that-rare occurence, but the biggest probelm of all is that every particle on your CD, near the mouth of your drive, or hanging in the air, gets sucked in wth your disc. My car CDs which are otherwise immaculately well cared for, look like I've had them in a tool drawer for a decade. Slot drives are bad bad bad.

But they look cool.
