Wasn't just there an attack thread made by Conquer about this?

This looks delicious... does it come in 100 calorie sugar-free servings?

Good baklava is god tier.
But kanafeh is superior.

I don't think there's any honey in Baklava. At least not when we make some at home. It's just water with tons of sugar and a bit lemon juice.
Some people make it with honey, but it's just more of a hassle and doesn't make that big of a difference.

Good baklava isn't as sticky sweet, and is infused with rose water for a subtle depth of flavor. Bad baklava is like liking the plate after having some toast and honey.

Still, when done right, it's absolutely the best dessert around.

straight from wikipedia: Baklava (/ˈbɑːkləvɑː/, /bɑːkləˈvɑː/,[1] or /bəˈklɑːvə/;[2] Ottoman Turkish: باقلوا [bɑːklɑvɑː]; Arabic: بقلاوة) is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup or honey.

Whether it is honey or the syrup. I really dislike the taste of the gooey stuff that holds it together.

backlava is usually mediocre.

But when you get it from somewhere good, it's really fucking amazing and a top tier dessert.

Not many places know how to pull it off, but man when it's done right...mmmmmmm

usually done pretty mediocorely (too surupy etc.)
but if could find someone doing properly its really out of this world taste.

still quite difficult to find that quality, even in turkey.

got a Turkish 24h bakery around the corner. They got like 20 different versions and they are the perfect things to eat at 4 am after a rough night of gaming.

Top treat!

Experienced halo tier baklava a few years back in Serbia, still unmatched. The only places that I've seen it in the UK it's been out all day / looked crappy.

I'm still convinced the original recipe for this was created by the tooth fairy. So sweet, you can TASTE the Karies (what's that called in English? Would google myself but am on crappy mobile connection) with every bite you take.

I like sweets, but Turkish sweets are too much for me o.O

so good, i like it so much i even had an ex-girlfriend bring me back some from her stay in israel. its kind of like pussy though in that it has to be moist to be enjoyable, there's nothing worse than dry baklava/vagina.

Baklava can be amazing! Best one I ate was in Greece though. Finding good baklava here in Germany can be pretty tough in my experience. Turkish baklava is heavier as sweeter than the Greek version and it's really expensive.
Galaktompoureko is where it's at though.

I have yet to taste well-made baklava (stuff from greek take-out, mediocre turkish restaurants, and potlucks don't really count)

one of y'all is going to have to introduce me to your mother or something because I've been ready for this surely mind-altering experience for a long time now
