Cool for Wayforward, they're glad to be working.
But releasing a Pokemon style title exclusively on Switch where it needs to go toe to toe with the real deal, when it could enjoy open goals on PS/Xbox and PC is baffling.

That combat system... there is probably some interesting mechanics/strategy there somewhere, if its based on a card game. But why oh why is there this weird mix of turn based combat combined with real time free movement Frisbee throwing shenanigans..... I always find that mix so jarring.

Metroid, I could see, but given that it would use WayForward's more Flash-like HD art ala DuckTales & Shantae Seven Sirens instead of their pixelart Aliens Infestation / Mummy Demastered style, I'm already recoiling in my head at the inevitable fan reactions to its artstyle.

It's certainly been something in Mr. Bozon's head for a while...

That said, I was much more interested in the guess that maybe WayForward was doing a Zelda II: The Adventures of Link remake. (Partly I felt this was more likely because Link's Awakening just recently got a revisit, but also I would be in favor of MercurySteam getting a second game after Metroid Samus Returns.)

But also, I guess with that Adventuretime game, WayForward already did their own Zelda II...

lol im glad it wasn't, rather have 2D Metroid be made by Mercury Steam and Sakamoto than these guys.

Castlevania had a shot but its been dead for years and not the same without IGA and his team.

Get out of here with that nonsense. They have done a much better job marketing the switch to appeal for a wide age group.

I think people are disappointed because Nintendo hyped it up in a tweet when this is kinda like one of those and this is coming to reel games during a direct.
