Banished Bush Portrait to be Shown on Giant NY Billboard

A portrait of President Bush using monkeys to form his image that was banished from a New York art show last week amid charges of censorship was projected on a giant billboard in Manhattan on Tuesday.

"Bush Monkeys," a small acrylic on canvas by Chris Savido, created the stir last week at the Chelsea Market public space, leading the market's managers to close down the 60-piece show.

Animal Magazine, a quarterly arts publication that had organized the month-long show, said anonymous donors had paid for the picture to be posted on a giant digital billboard over the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, used by thousands of commuters traveling between Manhattan and New Jersey.

The original picture will be auctioned on eBay, with part of the proceeds donated to parents of U.S. soldiers wishing to supply their sons and daughters with body armor in Iraq.

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld came under fire from soldiers in Kuwait earlier this month who complained that they had to use scrap metal to armor their vehicles.

That's awesome. I especially love how the United States gov't accounts for about 1/3 of the United States economy, that is they have an anual spending power of over 3 trillion dollars, yet body armor has to be supplied to American soldiers out of private donations, all the while companies like Haliburton are getting money hats from the United States. How could anyone vote for Bush? Are 50 million people really that stupid?

I would really hate it or love seeing it on the way to school. Either that awful mug will give me road rage or I would just flick it off.

That pic looks like monkeys threw poop on a canvas, and it came up like that. Or are the brown spots monkeys?

either way...

Well yeah, how do you think they make that MGS art? Kojima's army of stealth monkeys, that's how. You just can't see them in pictures of Kojima, because they're stealthy.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'

Don't worry, Halliburton's margins are barely scratching one percent because of their amazing inefficiency. So this war isn't benefitting anyone a great deal right now, except maybe the arms dealers in Syria.

The Pentagon budget is 407 billion, not 3 trillion. If you listened to the entire news conference, not just the sound bite the media spewed, they are working on armor plating the vehicles as they are brought over. Oh, and John Kerry voted against the body armor (the famous, I voted for it before I voted against it speech). Haliburton has nothing to do with the armor plating issue. Also, the info about private donations for armor plating is eroneous as well.
