Registered for GAF on September 11, 2001.
Just finished season 1.

If you would have told me as a teenager I'd be watching Cinemax for much more than softcore pornography and the shows I'd watch we're more exciting, gripping and so well made than the bulk of action movies in the last 20 years, I would've called you a liar and challenged you to a duel.

Perhaps Cinemax is hoping that the TV critics will watch the episodes over the holidays when they have nothing else to watch? Now that I mention it, that's actually a pretty smart idea.

I saw the 1st episode of Masters of Sex and enjoyed it, but was put off at the end of the episode where
Sheen's character told his secretary that they should have sex as part of the research.
I just think it is a lame setup for some annoying drama. It's on hold for now. I'll get back to it at some point. Probably.

There might be another. Anyway, the first two in particular have a ton of potential. Vikings really started to improve towards the end and I hear the film an uncut version for Europe that's on the blu-ray.

*shrugs* Doesn't really matter if cringe-inducing drama ensues. Not sure if it does, but I suspect it will.

EDIT: I suppose I should add I'm not a fan of melodrama. I haven't been able to finish Breaking Bad because of the family stuff (I will, just takes small doses).

Haven't seen it. Trailers made it look cheap, but it has gotten good WoM here. Will give it a go at some point.

I don't think it has. Besides, that proposition doesn't actually come to fruition until several episodes later.

Haven't seen it. Trailers made it look cheap, but it has gotten good WoM here. Will give it a go at some point.

It's one of the best shows of the year. You really should get around to it sooner rather than later. :D

, I think it looks like her. Could just be the dark, or could just be my wishful thinking, but I think that looks like dark hair. And the face looks more like our favorite deputy than Odette. Really hope I am right. I believe I've clearly stated my opinion of the main chick in the s1 thread. I'll settle for Rebecca or Odettes character though.

That trailer looked insane. THis year has been incredible for new shows (better than any other year I can remember), but nothing quite caught my love the way Banshee did.


Love how Cinemax is developing overall. Banshee and Strike Back are by far the best pure action shows TV ever had. Hope Quarry will live up to it. With all the recent Marvel developments I hope Cinemax gets to make Punisher. Would propably be the very best channel for that (with FX being the runner up)

That trailer was everything I hoped for and more. You could just see everyone in this gives it 100%, from the main leads who go through unbelievably grueling fight scenes to Ukranian Gangster #17, they all sell it no matter how crazy things get.

One thing I really like is in all the crazyness the Amish community is an oasis of calm and stability and even though Rebecca and Kai have turned to the modern times the rejection of their choice by their families hurts them a lot. I really want to see where they will go this season as long as it does not get too creepy. All the scenes of the Amish in the field are also shot beautifully like a Terrence Malick movie

I hope Quarry is an action show. Either way, I'm interested. I also like John Hillcoat.

Punisher on Cinemax would be crazy awesome. Kinda wish Preacher was being pitched to Cinemax instead of AMC, too.

Speaking of FX, I really hope The Strain (which was ordered to series) is more action than drama and turns out well. I'd love to see FX have a full-on action show. They are certainly capable, if the action scenes in Justified, Sons of Anarchy etc. are any indication.

Back OT, anyone know who the actress who plays the native girl (introduced late in the season) is? Couldn't spot her on IMDB.

I also concur the other poster...Banshee blu-ray seems like a must-own.

lol if you look at IMDB Anthony Starr only appears in 2 episodes of season 2, and Ivana Milichevich in 1, but her husband in all of them) It's a mistake, right? Guys....right?

IMDB is worthless for anything that hasn't been aired/released already.

Chances are there's a Citizen Kane 2: Kane Harder hidden somewhere in their database.

They both die in the first episode, and the show becomes all about the relationship between Sugar and Job.
