Battlefield 1 Early access,Road to Battlefield 1 streams (BF1 prior release thread)

OK, so you don't actually spend the war bonds from the My Soldier tab outside a game? You buy them when you're in a game? Maybe I just missed something. I'll check again tonight. Thanks!

I personally haven't spent war bonds from the My soldier tab.

I'll check it out myself tonight too.

Any way of checking your stats online or mobile?

Also in the game, where does it show a more detailed stats like kills, deaths etc?

Just started the trial, amazing game. Love that you unlock codecs so you can get some history lessons from it as well.

I noticed that i couldn't see a timer when ingame though, or when bringing up the overlay (On PC). Is there a way to know how many hours you have left?

Curious about this as well. During the beta this info was on the website but I don't see it now. Maybe next week for the full release?

When you click on the icon in Origin and it slides out the panel for the game, it shows approximate time left. It also tells you every time you launch it.

I know this is more of a question for the performance thread, but are most people in here using v-sync on or off? Only asking people without g/free-synch monitors. Asking because some games v-sync adds a ton of input lag, in others it doesn't.

Maybe a stupid question, but where can I change my loadout and unlock items, etc.? Other than from within a game, pre-spawn, I can't find where I can go to do this.

(It would be beyond stupid if within a game is the only time I can change loadout, unlock stuff, etc.)

Edit: I see someone above me is asking the same question...

While I'm sure there's needs to be some balancing with it once the game really goes live, and they need to resolve the matchmaking issues and make available in the server browser, I think operations will be my most go to mode outside of conquest. Like how it's like a mixture of rush and conquest, and it's atmosphere and presentation is second to none...they just need to resolve those issues. Also the length possibly as well...shouldn't have the option to leave before progressing to a new map and not lose progress. But none the less, I'm impressed for the most part, need to pay it more across different maps.

Unfortunately, it's only possible mid-match. Can't do it from the main menu, but hopefully that will be patched in eventually.

How you mess up spawn and map design this badly. You don't spawn people into areas where is zero cover, but millions sniper lanes into it. Fun to spawn few times in a row only to be headshotted by sniper from across the map instantly. Map design is ruining this game for me so hardcore. Sacrificing good flow and balanced design for constant showy and no-brains-needed action.

Edit: They are yet to fix auto-lean bug? WTF...

Just noticed, thanks. Another thing, what'll happen to the Trial tile when the time has run out (or the game has launched)? Will it get removed and everything will be moved over to the actual game-tile?

Okay thanks. I love this game, but this "play early" trial feels more like a late beta than an opportunity to play the finished game early. Should have known with EA involved.

What I'm expecting (but hoping isn't the case) is that I'll need to uninstall the trial and reinstall the actual game.

Best game of the generation.

My only issue is that you can open a lot of doors but when you run into one where you can't it really breaks the flow and immersion.

The Tank hunter kit for the attack plane got nerved pretty heavily. It now barely does any damage against other planes ir onfoot soldiers anymore :(

I'll miss those 1-taps...

I know it's WW1 but man BF1 brings back all them feels from 1942! Especially the music.

Sometimes I pretend it's WW2 and the 1943 we deserved!

LOVE IT!

Sorry if it's already been asked/answered but..

If I want to play on the 18th, is the best way to do it by signing up for Origin Access and getting 10% off of BF1? Doesn't that basically just allow you to play the game earlier for around the same price?

Thanks.

Are you speaking about the multiplayer or more of the single player? (I know 1942 didn't have single player like this one does). The reason I ask is because 1942 is my favorite multiplayer game of all time (with the Desert Combat mod), BF2 is just a touch behind it.

Wasn't a big fan of BF3, probably a 5/10 for me. BF4 started at about a 7/10 but that first big patch they released, and the game updates brought that up to about a 8/10 for me.

OK, so we have to accept that there will always be one meat grind map like Suez. but does it play well on Rush??

Metro was great on Rush, so tell me it's redeemable.

My big problem with CQ design is it often feels like a merry go round, and I want maps with logical flow and motivation to capture. Let me capture something that has strategic value.

I LOVED BF3's Armored Kill maps. They felt huge, yet had a mix of intense flags, and flags further out that felt away from the action. I loved the trickle of fights you could expect, different from the chaos of some points.

My other big thing is how often flags are constantly overturned, mostly due to how close some flags are. So annoyingly bad.

Anyways, can you guys tell me if there are a handful of good rush maps?

How's the class variety? Seeing lots of support? They were severely lacking

Shotgun on Armiens.

For me it's the overall feel of the game, SP I haven't played much, just the prologue and like 10 mins of the first mission, but MP I played a lot of the beta and have spent like 2 hours in early access and it's easy for me to pretend this is WW2, I mean I'm not an expert of the era, weapons, etc, so to me this could very well be 1943.

And the music... this is the true classic BF theme song so it definitely helps getting that 1942 feeling back.

So, Operations is just a Rush type mode where instead of planting bombs, you take control of flag points, right? And then you keep pushing up to do it over and over again until you win?

Or is there some diversity? (Cap flags in one zone, plant bombs in another, etc)

This game has so much issues and odd/bad design decisions it isn't even funny.
  • Spawning right into enemies or having enemy spawn right behind you happens way, way too often
  • Map design is quite flawed and encourages sniper camping. Long lines of fire with next to no cover to use as infantry
  • I shot heavy tank three times with AT Cannon, each shot dealt 30dmg. Tank killed me by shooting AP round 5! meters in front of AT Cannon. Tank had 60HP left. 30 + 30 + 30 == 40? It was back to back only cannon reloads between so tank had no time to repair.
  • Iron sights on bolt action rifles seem to be off their mark by some. Aiming at head from mid range often resulted in bullet flying over quite a bit when in beta it was guaranteed headshot
  • Melee still has too a lot auto aim to it. You can hit melee attack, do automatic 180 and hit enemy to face. Like.. what?
  • They haven't fixed bug with auto-lean feature. On your screen you are leaning around corner, exposed. What other players see? Nothing, maybe scope glint through the wall, because on their screen you aren't leaning
  • Suppression is ol' good and extremely hated (by community) screen blurring + random deviation model. Put more bullets down the lane than enemy shooting at you and you will have advantage. By community demand this was removed from BF4, now it's back. Why?
  • Vaulting and climbing can still slingshot you, rubberband you backwards, pull you back after getting over fence etc. Had few ladders doing this too, kept glitching out and dropping me down
  • Weather effects are still more for graphical candy than for gameplay impact. If I spot you from 15m out in fog then sniper 100m out will also see your dorito, and pop yours head off like it was sunny day
Such shame :/

Game just came out (and isn't even officially released yet). Let's them a little time to work some of that stuff out.

Hopefully it will be more polished than BF4 on release.

Most of those issues were already visible during alpha and beta, community talked about them and hoped they get addressed. Such a shame to see old issues and new ones around.

Anyone else have problems with alt-tabbing? As soon as I alt-tab my whole pc locks up and I have to restart my pc. I'm using borderless window mode

Anyone whos playing on pc not actually able to open the game? Just finished downloading and it wont open, I press start trial and it goes grey and does nothing, tried running bf1.exe and bf1trial.exe as admin nothing, tried a fresh install and still nothing

I think someone mentioned you needed to completely uninstall your drivers and install them clean.

Honestly, I have high hopes that DICE will get them taken care of in due time. Maybe even by actual release. Of course not ALL of them, but hopefully a few. I played the beta quite a bit, and while there were issues I observed (it's a beta, it's standard), it didn't tarnish my experience by any means. I'm looking forward to checking this out over the weekend, and seeing how I feel about it. It's my most anticipated "holiday" title this year, hands down.

Had an amazing match playing Rush. We were defending an the enemy only had 1 final objective to blow up but we held out, great stuff.

What sort of attachments are there? Suppressor or silencers? What about weapon sights, are they customizable?

You can choose how much ADS zooms in [varies from weapon to weapon, from sight to sight], what sight looks like [e.g. dot or cross on scope] and if you have bayonet attached or not. That's it. What attachments weapon has is predetermined and player has no control over it.

Edit: Suppressor and silencer are same thing, right term to use is suppressor.
