Battlefield 2...was it at E3? Playable? Awesome?

Title pretty much says everything.

Inquiring minds...want to know!

I know it's supposed to be out soon, or hey, maybe it's already out and I was too busy with work to notice. But I was thinking that we haven't seen much of it and E3 would be a great place to show off a near finished game.
 
That preview just about sold me on the game!!





One thing I'd like to know is: If some idiot drives over your (strategically placed) landmine, will it count as a TK as well?! Probably so :( annoys the hell out of me!
 
it was playable, but i didnt spend any time with it.

modern combat was everywhere for ps2 and xbox, and ea was showing what i'm assuming is the 360 modern combat in trailer form.
 
Gotta love how this board totally ignores PC gaming.

BATTLEFIELD 2 (PC) – Battlefield 2 can be described in two words. Shit. Hot. I’ve never played Battlefield in any incarnation until this day but I must tell you that I absolutely love it! Certis and I played for between ten and fifteen minutes but I believe this will be the PC multiplayer game of the summer. The interface is slick, the weapons are beautiful, and the vehicles are exquisitely modeled. I’m planning on getting all four of us to play on the same server at some point during the Expo and I’ll take more detailed notes then. But sufficed to say, come June, Fileplanet better have the demo right away or I’m dropping them in favor of the first site to get it.

Battlefield 2

A lot of the stuff Reaper likes about BF2 is essentially whatÂ’s always been good about the series. HeÂ’s never played it before so IÂ’m not surprised he finds it to be titillating. For myself, I came into the circular E3 staging area not feeling too good about the game based on what I saw before the show. It turns out some of my fears that the game will just be more of the same were unfounded. Tweaks like actually getting visual feedback on the screen so you know where youÂ’re being shot from to slowing down the infantry combat a little bit make me happy. I also like the new squad system that not only allows you to communicate easily with a small group of friends within a larger match but you can also spawn wherever your squad leader is on the map. Very cool. All in all IÂ’m feeling a lot better about BF2 and IÂ’ll be eagerly awaiting the demo in June.

Additionally, IÂ’ve turned into a BF2 whore. The systems running BF2 at this expo are Athlon 64Â’s with PCI-x 6800GTÂ’s and 2GB of RAM. They run the game ultra smooth and it looks beautiful. Swampy will be pleased to hear that SwampAirÂ’s reign of terror will become nothing short of legendary with the vehicular control. Any idiot can hop in a LAV or tank but I saw more people crash helicopters than fly them. The weapons look excellent! The animations are just about as authentic as I could want and in a really cool development, the zoomed in animation on iron sights is actually three dimensional, itÂ’s not simply a perspective or reticule change. The weapon selection is diverse and faction appropriate. However, at this point, the special unlockable kits are faction universal. It was very strange to see Chinese Special Forces using a G36C and Marine Riflemen using G3Â’s.

my only problem with BF2 is that I will probably have to build a new box to run it. I am on the fence if I should get a GFX card or an X360... with MS stating KB/mouse is a no go for gameplay, the new GFX card is looking more likely at this point.
 
I didn't get around to playing it yesterday, but I watched for a couple minutes over someone's shoulder. I didn't watch long enough to see any gameplay changes, but the graphics looked great.
 
The game is coming out just a week after the demo hits, talk about a tease. I bet its good and short, so they can rip it away to leave ya frothing. :) Ive had the DVD version preordered for months now.
 
I preordered it at a gamestop today since they just got the bonus in for preordering, some logitech bf2 headset.. It feels like a toy and really cheap.. but hey its free
