I haven't played a BF since hundreds of hours of '42 and like 10 hours of 2042 so all these maps are new to me. Oh, man. I REALLY love Oman HA HA HA. That sand storm is hella cool.
The above pics are seducing me into trying a round in the fall level.
Of course you love Oman because it came from the best modern-warfare game to date in the series: BF2.
You really missed a gem if you skipped BF2. Still one of my favorite games ever and the maps were amazing. It's a shame so many BF3 maps are present in Second Assault. Hell, I would have loved to see some of the Chinese maps from BF2 in BF4 since China is in again. They would look amazing on FB3.
The one nice thing about BF4 is that I know Premium will at least have good DLC unlike most season passes. The naval combat in the next one better be decent though since it's bullshit how they kept mentioning "naval combat" after revealing BF4. BF1942 was amazing with the naval combat.
I think it's time for BF to return to WWII since that's now the anomaly while every other game is modern or futuristic with similar gameplay. Imagine full-scale naval battles coming back, the destruction in FB3 being dialed up to a 10 thanks to the setting, and an actual balanced game since engineers can't magically take out anything in the air like it's nothing. BF1944 could be amazing but I fear they won't go back to it, especially since so many people love their stupid weapon attachment and couldn't stand to use iron-sights again. I just think skill prevails in a simpler game like that.
Edit: Oh, and the weather and other events that could happen in the WWII setting. Sandstorms in Africa, bad weather in the Pacific affecting the boats, blizzards on the Eastern Front, random bombing raids affecting the map on the Western Front like destroying parts of buildings and creating new routes with the dust making it a tense route to take.
Please DICE. You might not bring BF2 feelings back to me with BF4, but you could bring BF1942 feelings back to me just by the setting and gear alone. Or you could do something I've requested for a very long time and that's a game that recreates the Korean War since it's an untouched setting with plenty of familiar but unique gameplay since it's a mix of two ages. The WWII age fading and the modern age beginning. Sabres vs. MiG-15's as the jet age takes off but plenty of prop planes still in use. Beautiful locales that could show off your engine quite well, and much more.
End rant.
