Bayonetta out on Steam (4K, dual audio), $19.99, PC launch trailer, dev diary

Well, sounds like a great port. As soon as I confirm 21x9 working I am in. Even if I can just get black borders vs stretched I will get this.

Awesome!

So for someone who's first full-fledged Platinum game was Nier Automata, and has only played demos of Bayo 1 and MGR, what can one expect?

For both of those demos I had a bit of a rough time getting into the combat, but I'd suppose that'd be allevated by properly weaning into the systems at the game's pace. I understand that Nier:A is a bit simpler and chiller than most of Platinum's output, and could sorta tell, since they wanted to make an ARPG first and foremost

This is still their masterpiece and one of the best pure action games made. It's absolutely fantastic.

AH, I should have mentioned that.

Yeah, no loading. At all.

Yeah, jesus.

It's amazing how Sega's PC ports all have next to nonexistent loading times. Both this and Valkyria* suffered from minute long load times on consoles, which now are just... Gone..

*Long ass load times seem to be a series tradition at this point looking at Azure Revolution.

Nier had 21:9 support and historically Platinum has always improved with every port. I fully expect this game to have 21:9 support as well, but safer to wait for confirmation.

Maybe not in revenue, but in gross sales it has a good chance due to the lowered barrier to entry.

Sega spent more marketing this version than Square on the PC version of Nier. It's actually significantly worse since Sony and Square made sure to actually obfuscate the PC version of Nier. 😵😵😵😵😵

Yeah it's pretty sad for Square Enix that Sega has done a much better job promoting this than they could manage for their full price new release.

I'm impressed Sega have done this so well, solid port, added options (Japanese voice from Wii U version ported over), dev diary, interviews and promotion for the PC version.

It's so good to see companies putting the effort in and realising they'll get results from it

What marketing? Having a single countdown that could have been anything starting on April's fools day isn't much, Nier at least announced the PC version before it came out. Not saying that the PC version had great marketing mind you.

I've never played Bayonetta? Is this one of those just go home and immediately buy it kind of deals?

Good game for the price. I think it's at its best when you're fighting enemies around the same size as you so you can play around with different techniques. However it has a tendency where most of the boss fights involve you fighting someone 10 times larger than you so you end up being limited and the camera kind of goes to shit. Except for maybe 2 or 3 of them, the boss fights are the worst parts of the game IMO.

I have a weird glitch where any of the cutscenes with the film roll effect will have the video both within the film roll frames but also as a quarter size version inside each frame......

I really doubt it is meant to look like that, but it is very bizarre

What are the odds that Nintendo releases that death grip on Bayonetta 2?

Yeah most of the bosses are meh, flash/size over substance.

There is really only one good boss (ya'll know who it is).

Bought from Humble Bundle, had 10% off and $5 off from the Freedom Bundle

$13 for launch day best version of one of the best game ever? Easy decision

I'm glad more people get to experience one of the best hack and slash games ever made. Up there with DMC3, MGR & Bayonetta 2.

I do hope SEGA ports Vanquish next because more people need to experience that game as well.

I'd say all of the human-sized bosses are good (I count 3). Though tbh I like all of the large bosses in Bayo1, except for Iustia.

Nothing about a verse selector?

That's too bad. Because while the extra framerate and resolution is nice, the best thing about PC is that it's a chance to add new useful features. Like not having to play the 15 minute space harrier thing every time you want to fight Jeanne's final boss form.

Hopefully mods will attend to that.

I know it has been years since release, but some of us haven't played this yet. It's not that deep, but a spoiler tag would have been nice at the very least.

Just finished my PC so this is one of the first games I'll be buying

woa woa woa

im buying this asap

I assume it runs well even on shitty comps? will my gtx760 be able to run it at 60 at least?

I bought this so fast once I saw the store popup I got whiplash. I'm so happy to read it's actually a great port too. Good things still DO happen in 2017. I played a bit of the Wii U Bayo 1 but never finished it (not because I disliked it, but because I'm bad at finishing games), so it's perfect!

Oh and $20 is awesome, that's instabuy territory for something I'm really interested in.

I hope someone, somewhere, is tweeting happy things at Kamiya.

760 is actually the recommended requirement!

And that digital foundry tweet earlier had a Radeon 7770 doing well at 60 fps. And that's like a 650, or maybe 660 equivalent.

I have the same card as you actually but sadly I have to wait for my internet to download the game before I can get into it.

Just picked it up on Gamesplanet for $17.42

You have done well. Now brace yourself for the experience of a lifetime.
