The Beastie Boys have always had a lot to say about everything from partying and girls to politics, social causes, and the city that they love (NYC, of course). You name it, they’ve covered it without bowing to censorship, so it should come as no surprise that they have decided to speak out against KFC to defend the rights of chickens.

I think this is great, and I hope more celebrities get the word out on this. It is sick that this stuff is allowed to happen. Hopefully it will grow so large that KFC is forced to do something about it.

My point is that chickens and cows are always slaughtered for food and PETA is picking on KFC because they are part of a big corp and it's easy to get publicity for your cause by picking on a big name. If PETA was going after Joe's Chicken Shack for slaughtering chickens, they wouldn't be getting this much attention.

But that's just a question of scale. Even if Joe's Chicken Shack is being as vile as KFC in their treatment of the products, it's nothing compared to the sheer size of KFC's operation. What would be the use of going after the small fish first?

And, by the way... Do you get a craving for some deep fried wings when you watch that video? Seriously, I'd like to think that what I stick in my mouth is treated better than that. Not for animal-loving reasons, just for my damn self.

PETA are total nut jobs. They make good organizations that are grounded in reality such as the World Wildlife Fund or the The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals look bad as too many people associate the actions of PETA with them.

1. KFC doesn't even cut off the beaks and the footage shown is outdated, in addition to a single vendor that probably isn't even used by KFC anymore. To clarify:

"PETA is attempting to mislead the public with an outdated and questionable video on chicken production … The system shown is no longer in use in our industry … Only the sharp tip of the beak is removed (on some male birds to prevent injury to other birds), not the large portion as shown in the outdated PETA video. Precision laser technology is rapidly replacing blade systems."

2. Oh no, a couple of workers kicked some chicken around! Surely this must mean all the workers and vendors do this!

3. KFC has already bowed to pressure by PETA by letting them control what they say about their chicken killing machine of awesomness. They've also setup a bunch of guidelines for processing the chickens with PETA last year. Why the fuck are we still talking about this?

They're installing cameras in all 29 of their slaughterhouses and doing the following:

KFC also agreed 1) to ensure that its suppliers would add stimulation devices to the perches in the chicken sheds; 2) to move quickly to kill chickens in electric stun baths rather than merely immobilizing them; 3) to implement humane mechanized chicken-gathering systems; and 4) to provide increased space for chicken housing. KFC promised to report back to PETA on a regular basis to verify its compliance.

Personally, I don't get the apathy. I mean, I love me some meat...but why can't we just let the animals kick it and get fat and then kill them and eat them? Why do they have to kick them around and chop off their beaks and other random, weird shit we see in these kinds of videos? Like the dudes forcefully throwing the chickens into that container in this video. It would've taken a couple of nanoseconds more effort to at least tuck them in a little more nicely, not just tossing them headfirst into a metal wall.

Not saying they have to wrap them in cotton and hire a personal carrier for each of them, but some things are just demented.
