Beatmania IIDX- Help

Hey, where's the best place to get the konami controller? Would you recommend getting 7th or 8th Style to start off as a newbie? Any place that has song previews or videos or Mp3's? Any tips?

I think 6th is pretty easy to start on. It has the drill mode, which is nice, and bitchin' videos of people playing IIDX. I'm off to play IIDX now.

As for tips: Practice, and lots of it. Only faggots play right side turn table.

Ok, thanks for the help. I don't see any controllers for less than $100 after shipping. What's the deal with that?

Drill mode's cool, and it's a pity that it isn't in 7th or 8th, but the songlists in 7th or 8th easily make up for it.

As far as controller prices, I don't know. Konami just released a re-made Pop'n Standard controller, and at Play Asia you could buy Pop'n 10 + controller for $100! Don't know if that's still going on. Fine controller, too, with no sticking or anything to worry about. If only they'd give the IIDX standard controller that treatment.

That's another thing about starting with IIDX. Know this: Your keys will stick at one point. Keep 'em clean. You'll need to open up the controller to do so, but it's very, very harmless. There are also modifications you can do to it to fight off the sticking, but I haven't seen anything perfect yet.

Konami just likes to overprice their controllers for some reason.
I'd say the reason is more due to the importer places that like to overprice the controller in this case.

According to Konami's online store, the controller retails for about $52. I don't think that's unreasonable. Most YahooJapan auctions on used controllers end for half of that price. But in this instance, the import places know the demand is high enough to inflate the cost.

are these like normal dance controlers? you can get aight ones for like $30 AU here. Maybe i have wrong game?

*edit* thought it was step mania :P

I'm trashing my shell and getting new keys. Building my own controller. I'm going to keep the turn table, but make a bigger one to put on top of it. It's going to kick ass.
