Help Me Only Buy 5 Games in 2026

Arsic

Loves his juicy stink trail scent
I shamefully spent too much time and money on games in 2025. I wanted to treat this as a binge year of sorts since I could but next year I'll be starting a new role that will keep me away from home more and busy.

I want to only play 5 games on launch, and then possibly scoop up major end of year sales for surprise hits or must plays I miss.

Current list:
RE9
Wolverine
Saros
GTA6
Onimusha

Other games I am considering:
Vampire Witcher
Zero Parades
Marathon
Control

I will also for sure get my son the new Batman Lego game and I will play it too but it's meant mainly for him.

Ideally I want the list of games to be spread out throughout the year 1-2 months between releases so I can float from one to another, and use F2P games and my back log to float me in between if necessary.

If you were to change the list above what would you do? Please list a release date if it isn't something I mentioned.

I love RPGs the most and my list has 0, but next years rpg game is weak currently?

I'm not buying them NOW. I just want to have my list and only deviate if yes something is a total stinker.
I understand you are not buying them now.

But even with a list, it's still worth waiting to see how things actually pan out. No point in locking in excitement until we know more.

But that's just me

If I let it to chance I'm just going to buy into hype for every fucking release like I did this year.

I need a list, and as long as everything reviews 80+, has good impressions on here, and doesn't run like shit on ps5 pro, then it's a buy a day or two after release.

1) Control
2) Soros
3) RE9
4) Vampire Witcher
5) Halo Campaign
6) Wolverine

GT6 isn't making next year if the first two quarters in 2026 are a financial bloodbath (again) here in the states.

The games I can see myself definitely getting next year so far :
GTA6
Wolverine
007 First Light
Star Wars Galactic Racer (PC Gamer lists it with a 2026 window but doubtful - https://www.pcgamer.com/games/new-pc-games-2026/)
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis (Also listed as 2026 window by PC Gamer)

Other possibles :
Super Meat Boy 3D
John Carpenter's Toxic Commando
Maybe that new Control game, that looked awesome.
Bradley the Badger
Stupid Never Dies

Depends what actually comes out and how it all looks.

If GTA6 really doesn't come I'll absolutely slot in vampire Witcher for my rpg fix. Maybe I'll keep that as the "back up" game.

I'm surprised others aren't as keen on Onimusha as me but that franchise is special to me. That said if it releases at a poor time it could turn into a slot for vampire Witcher as well.

I didn't put in that list simply because you are going to get it anyway.
The fact you listed a game that had its last release, what 20 years ago, tells me you are a fan and will pick it up.

I was just freeing up a slot for your kid to enjoy something else along with you :)

GTA6 for sure!
Wolverine
RE9
007
Open slot for that random game that gets ya with hype. :p
Tough to do it this way.

For this past year i narrowed down everything i wanted and basically hopped from release to release and ensuring i wouldn't move on till i completed what i was playing since i primarily play single-player games. I would mix that in with short experiences i can drop (NBA 2K, MLB, GT7, Arc, Battlefield, etc.)
2026 looks to end with purchases once GTA drops.

Onimusha is special but i think its the sort of game to see a quick discount.

No JK. I think I'll safely say 5 games for me, but my son is a different budget. Halo and Batman are locked for him on their own list.

How... the fuck... can anyone... help you... decide... on games... that haven't... fucking... been released... yet?

The rest of the thread is managing. Seems they managed to rub their brain cells together.

It's as mentioned above - a list to guide me. If games are 80+ scored, good impressions here, and no performance issues on ps5 then I stick to it and buy it. If it's a total turd then I swap a game out.

My brain cells are in revolt over this thread. :messenger_pouting:

So far I'm only contemplating switching Onimusha out for vampire Witcher.

Hopefully they get release dates mentioned soon.
