Beck Anime

Just like I hoped, the anime picks up once the band is assembled. (Just like the manga did, I was totally bored with it until about the 10th chapter [somewhere about where episode 9 is])

Getting 10 now, can't wait to see it. I'm so sad theyre cutting this to 26 episodes.. could easily, easily be 52.

Considering 11-12 are the episodes with one of Koyuki's biggest moments, yeah, it's depressing. Apparently AE is going super slow to try and do a really accurate translation or something...

I remember reading that AE was "planning something special" for Beck. I don't know what, though, and they don't seem to be in any hurry.

Well with Tokyopop snagging the manga, the anime license seems imminent which is both good and bad. Good, cause well Beck has been my favorite manga for many years now, but bad cause who knows if anyone will keep doing it and Volume 21 is apparently amazing :(

I wish a group that didn't really care about the license would continue scanlating Beck. I'll buy the volumes, but I don't fucking want to wait years to catch up.

Some info from the group who released 13-15.

As a few of you know I'm a Beck freak, and have been doing the anime from day 1 with ***. Now a few weeks ago it came to our attention that the anime had all but been licensed by Funimation (this is NOT based on the funi registraion story). In preparation for the eventual licensing I decided to sort out a gameplan with my buddy vincent from shinsen (who I am also a part of), as the group at *** consisted of some decent people I began to ask people i would want to work with to join the project for post-licensed releases. First person I asked was X (Beck Translator) who told me he was unhappy with the *** situation (various reasons) and he would be willing to make a move a lot sooner. However, as we had already done work on ep 11+12, enough to put into the later stages of release we thought it best to start from 13+ and there you have it...

#are you going to do 11+12?
#depending on ***'s response, we will either forge ahead and release these or allow *** to release them.

#Are you going to do the manga?
#Maybe not as part of *******, but some of us here at ******* will be releasing further chapters of the manga soon...

To be honest, with the limited lifespan of the anime I really don't need to see it all the way through; might as well stick to the manga. But 11+12 is one sequence I'd desperately like to see (manga fans know why).

Heh actually i have a friend who is trying to put a project together for this. He's spent the last few days cleaning, leveling, and tilting the scans for volumes 20 and 21. He just needs to find a TL (much much easier said than done) and then he'll be editing the scripts and adding the text to raws. Not sure what the policy is on this but if i'm breaking some kind of rule please let me know and i'll delete this next line. If anyone knows someone fluent in Japanese with knowlege of kanji that'd like to work on it send me a pm and i can direct you to him.

Beck 11 released via a group called Chop Squad Subs. I hope they actually translated instead of trying to just take the things from the manga and paste over the anime. (although that would tide me over, I guess).

is it not allowed to put a link to chop squad's releases? I can't find it myself.

Watched up to ep 17. Great anime. One question though, is it so hard to find VAs who can speak decent English or is that on purpose? :lol

A-E released episodes 14 and 15.

I don't know about the rest of you, but after Naruto, this is my favorite new anime.

they must not have looked hard enough. there are plenty of VAs who can speak fluent english, like maaya sakamoto.

They probably command a much higher price tag than your typical voice actor due to it too.

They speak slowly and stiltedly so that the Japanese viewers can understand them (yes there are subs, but Japanese people like being able to understand spoken English on TV)

I don't know about Eddie's character but I assumed Maho and Ryusuke were native Japanese speakers who grew up in the US. I'm not sure though.

Just got up to Beck 12! Awesome! I guess I need to read the manga.... It takes me so friggin long to read though. My kanji skillz blow, I only know around 900 or so :-(
