Why Odelay. How do Sea Change fans not know that Mutations is his second best in that vein? Reading this thread, I'm perplexed by the general ignorance to Mutations.

Sometimes I like mutations better than Sea Change. It depends on my mood.

Man I've been so busy he entire week that I haven't had time to listen to the track. But right now I had a break and got a few listens. Its damn good, I'm still in disbelief that Beck is returning to form. If Blue Moon is a sign of what to come I can already claim it to be my album of the year.

literally have not heard a single note after Sea Change, aside from the minute of Black Tambourine in Inland Empire.

i think i got a little soured by the scientologist stuff in my early 20s (which i don't think i've ever bothered to check is true), then just never really went back. But I think i'm ready for more beck. that's my story. thank you for letting me share.

Yeah, then I remembered that I felt the same way about Chemtrails before Modern Guilt came out.

Also weird to see all the Sea Change fans. I remember that album was disliked in the naughts for being too melodramatic and cheesy.

It's weird for Beck to make an album that's so derivative of his own work. Usually you can count on him to keep things interesting. It's an ok album but feels a bit contrived and pandering. Apparently there's potentially another album coming soon so hopefully that can be more interesting.

Definitely the same sound as Sea Change, as said. I always wanted another Odelay.

There's a lot of great music on this record although I found the lyrics pretty disappointing, "Blue Moon", "Morning Phase", and "Don't Let It Go" notwithstanding.

It sounds similar to Sea Change but without all of the angst and melancholy.

That being said, Blue Moon is incredible. I could crawl inside it.
