Beer Question

I'm glad Grandpa porked a Chinese Muslim
I figure I should buy the beer for an upcoming party, since I'll probably be drinking a substantial portion of it. I'm going to definitely go with Yeungling, but I'm curious as to what those in GAF who have had it and its several varieties think of which I should get. Yeungling Lager seems to be the only beer I can drink without completely wretching after every taste, though I'm not quite sure why that is. Are Black & Tan or any of the other types of Yeungling better than the plain lager?

If you are buying beer for a party, do you really think quality is what should matter most? To hell with that. Find the cheapest beer in the most massive quantity you can. Regardless of your taste in beer, the availability of beer is far more important for a party. Nothing kills a party quicker than when the keg empties.

If you want something to drink, keep a private stash of the good beer for yourself and only your closest friends.

KEYSTONE LIGHT.

Oh wait, that's all we drink here, because it's so cheap and light.

My college should have a pipeline coming directly form a Kaystone Light brewery to feed our ridicuclous consumption for a small school

Quoted for TRUTH!

I don't think I've been at a party with a keg that's got anything more expensive in it than Bud Light, because most people predrink when they go to party anyways. So if you're already half drunk, you just want cheap beer to sustain yourself.

And he's absolutely right, too...nothing kills a party faster than the keg running out.

It's not really that kind of party. It's just sort of a gathering of close friends (probably will be no more than 8-9 people) where drinking will also occur, so a keg would be a bit of overkill.

Your best bet then is BYOB... but if you really want to be a good host, go grab, say, a fifth of Skyy Blue, a fifth of Jack Daniels and a fifth of Captain Morgan. If there's gonna be chicks there, substitute the JD for Cuervo.

These are all pretty universal liquors, in that everyone will enjoy one of them. Plus, none of them are sooo expensive that it'll crush you to get them, as the most expensive one is 20 bucks (at least in MI) for a fifth of JD. If you're not gonna go BYOB i'd definitely do that, and maybe supplement with a case of cheap but decent beer, like Coors Light or Labatt Blue. You don't need to go be buyin' a case of Newcastle or Killians, but this stuff I listed should suffice.

If you need beer that you really, really like, I've lately been suggesting Blue Moon. Awesome on it's own but with a slice of orange to go with it, it's heavenly. That's a pale ale (lighter taste). Heavier beer, well... I'm a newcastle guy, though people are split on Newcastle. People either love it (men) or absolutely hate it (women). I've also heard good things about Sierra Nevada.

Though stay away from BandT for awhile.... get your appreciation for beer up.
