Before Elden Ring was released did you know it could be a 10/10 game?

Finished it multiple times, without knowing what the hell the elden ring is actually supposed to be. I feel duped.

2/10 for being the second thing GRRM didnt finish writing.

Dark Souls, written by the Game of Thrones dude on next gen!?

Hmmm - maybe I had an inkling.
This, of a sort. I expected quality, but the above is what i consider a flaw. You hired an actual writer for a Souls game and you have nothing to show for it.

Meanwhile Nintendo releases Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in the same year, which is the 11/10 that beats Elden Ring in every category. Story, music, gameplay...everything.

The souls game I play from beginning to end was Bloodborne, you should play more games..

I've been playing Souls games since Demon's Souls released to America on the PS3. It will always be a 10/10 franchise. Elden Ring is just another iteration and the game design is essentially the same just expanded. So everyone familiar with Souls games knew it was going to be great.

I remember obsessively watching trailers and videos on Game Trailers praying Demon's Souls would come to America though. Fan outcry was essentially what got it over here in the West and from there it blew up. I still remember summer nights binge playing it as a teenager. Elden Ring gives me those same vibes too, it's awesome. I hope they never stop making these games. They only get better.

It was FROM's magnux opus. Ofcourse everybody thought right this will be a 10/10.
Personally, its a little way too big and way too punishing for its own good.

I knew it would be fantastic, but it blew my expectations out of the water a hundredfold.

A masterpiece of a game. And, in my opinion, one of the greatest ever made. If not THE greatest.

Edit:
Also, Shadow of the Erdtree, what an expansion of epic proportions.

Sure, FromSoftware had amazing track record and they utilized GRRM's name.

"World created by
Hidetaka Miyazaki

*LOUD HAMMER SOUND*
George R.R Martin"

That was enough to cause massive hype all around the internet and in the end they absolutely nailed it. I appreciate what games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro did before Elden Ring but when you take into account the grand scale of that game and how it all came to together there is no denying that Elden Ring is FromSoftware's Magnum Opus. I would be very surprised Hidetaka Miyazaki is ever capable of topping that. If he manages to do that, he must be named the King of Game Directors. He is already close to that.

I honestly don't know why Elden Ring is the one that stuck out for people making it this huge big deal as if it's From's best game...it's not. Far from it. I got it when it came out, and I tried playing it, but I found the open world design to be very poor. It was an "open world" but I constantly felt railroaded down certain paths, and it was frustrating because those paths were not very obvious at times, so I ended up wasting a lot of time trying to go one way when it ended up leading to nothing but dead ends.

Dark Souls and Bloodborne are their best games.

I didnt. I knew people had talked about it for years before coming out tho and as someone who loves demon souls but wasnt as head over heals for dark souls I hadnt bought in yet. However once I heard 8 of my coworkers talk about thier discoveries while playing and they were all really interesting and different from one another I could feel something special was happening.

Now im pretty sure it may be the best game ever made..

It's magnificent.

I finished it back to back to 100% completion on PS5 and then PS4 too. Further down the line I then done the same on Steam. I'm still not bored of it and will probably get the Switch 2 version for another run when it comes out.

It's no Sekiro or Bloodborne, but I'm a bit baffled about the negative reaction Elden Ring has from some users on here. Are you actually serious? Or just trolling?

10/10? For me it is a 0/10
I couldn't stand the 5 hours of my life I wasted on that shitty game, I want them back.

GRRM was only hired to write the ancient backstory for the main characters etc, not the entire game.

It was a great game (still is)! But why do we accept from Fromsoftware to deliver such ugly games with such a poor performance? If it was another studio/game it would be destroyed.
Still you cant deny its a masterpiece, Platinumed it.

No, because I am not that big of a fan of the franchise.

It did surprise me then when I put in some 130 hours in the end and loved it. Favorite fromsoft game. To be fair though, I am not that stingy in giving perfect scores to the games I love.

I did however see it from a mile off that the critics will absolutely eat it up.

I expected it to be a 9/10 but for me in the end it's a 7/10 at Best.

Not a bad game but vastly inferior to previous Fromsoft game like Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne or Sekiro.

I feel like it would've been much more enjoyable if they actually stopped being lazy and legit updated the gameplay for the player.
Yes it's not identical to Dark Souls 1 but it kinda is at its core.

Elden Ring bosses feel like they're designed for Sekiro.
Sad thing is they already showed that they can do this in Nightreign, Duchess dodge for instance feels a trillion times better it's hard to go back.
Feels way more like it was actually designed for these bosses.

It's Fromsoft, so yes.

I didn't think it would end up being one of the greatest games of all time though. That was a pleasant suprise.
