Beginning of the Halo 2 stats reset? All Rumble pit stats wiped out

strikeselect

You like me, you really really like me!
Are they just down or what? So far everyone I've asked says that Bungie.net is not displaying their level on rumble pit.

This could very well be the reset, highest level player on rumble pit leaderboard is now level 6?!

EDIT: Highest level is now 4, wtf is goin on

There goes my level 16 ranking. Good job Bungie...I have to pad my rankings yet again just to play with equally skilled players

This is stupid, who gives a shit about rankings...I just want to play with good players. Ranking systems kills online games since people are so uptight about their record

Well the only way to do that would be an 'invisible' ranking system. The rankings exist and stay as they are, they're just not displayed to you.

is this any different from the normal bungie.net stat weirdness?

yeah, they completely reset the rumble pit stats. When they start resetting stats on any other xbox live game i start to lose interest in the game.

why the fuck do they do that?!

although i didnt play much of rumble pit, if they're going to reset stats due to cheating. I dont think Rumble pit is the mode that needs reseting.

sigh.. after they reset all the statics and bring a patch to stop some cheating, other lame people will find other glitches etc to get an unfair ranking.

That what happens in many Xbox Live games.. there is no way to fix this cheating problem.. certainly not by resetting the scores.

There was a glitch resetting some stats on the very day that it was rumoured there would be a stat refresh?

Way to drop the ball guys.

this happens all the time...

sometimes i've seen as many as 3 columns say no games played...

But the thing is that the stats are actually reset this time. I just went online and my ranking for rumble pit is indeed level 1.

I want my level 16 back, I dont like playing against noobs :(

Out of curiousity -- if I go and play now with the stats all screwy, will it still add what I do to my old stats? I kinda want to play Halo now, but if it's not going to count on my stats there's no point :-P

oh ... damn ... in that case, i guess they either fucked up or are testing the waters to see what people think about stat resets...

i wonder how many people would go out of their way to cheat if stats were reset every month...

the stats aren't reset. XBL glitched.

Hopefully they can restore the data

Bungie should just start banning anyone who quits a game. I get so f'ing annoyed when someone quits a game just a minute or less than a minute into it. It drives me insane.

When Nature calls ya just gotta go. lol

my stats were wiped to 1 as well no idea when i'll have time to play as much as i did at launch again.

Stop playing with random people

Resetting the stats altogether would be a bad move; you wouldnt get an accurate, fair game as often as you would now. A level 1 that's really a level 16 skill, for example.

It's way too early to reset stats. Maybe till like summer or so?

Are they really gonna fix this 'glitch' or are the stats gone for good?

That's almost as stupid as the people who quit when they're losing. I've been in a two-person party in a Team Slayer match where the other two teammates quit, and it's really annoying, but banning them isn't the answer. Sometimes you just have to leave, and I wouldn't want to worry about being banned just because someone on the other side of the world is upset for the next ten minutes of a game.

I don't know how Bungie's matchmaking works, but it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to have an auto-balancing feature so if someone quits a new player joins. Or at least turn on the in-built auto-balance so the other team can be just as inconvenienced.

the problem is, playes who quit get last place in the matches rankings (and are therefore hurt the most in stats). if the other team lost a player to balance the game, it wouldnt be fair to the random person to get booted, and on top of that, it would actually hurt his stats.

there is no easy way around the problem of people quitting... if they made it so the team at a disadvantage from losing a person wasnt hurt stats wise, i bet teams would have a "fall guy" to quit whenever they were about to lose...

I think I just played against a cheater on head to head. It was a StK guy too with an overall rank of 27. It was on midship and every time I was near him with a sword or in a position where he was unfavored, the game would sorta disconnect and I wouldn't be able to do anything. Then the game would magically connect again 5 seconds later and I'd be dead. Is that the standby cheat? No wonder these assholes have a high ranking

never heard of a cheat that disconnects you for a few seconds. Are you sure it's not just lag?

Not lag since I'm always checking my ping times on my laptop. The lag came in very convenient spots if it it was truly lag...

Yeah, I have heard that it's possible to flip a switch on your router or something that causes a disconnect for everyone but you. If it was happening to Wario every single time then I doubt it's any coincidence.

I think head-to-head is generally pretty fucked anyhow. It can be too easy to dominate maps, too easy for assholes to hide.

the guy you played wario wasnt from clan stk. So yes, you couldve been cheated. Dont know if thats possible in slayer though.

I hate when people disconnect especially in team slayer it pisses me off because it almost a garanteed instant loss, which effects your ranking. Bungie should increase the experience loss penalty for quitters.

Probably wasn't actually from StK - try searching for gamertags on bungie.net, and you'll find a shitton of people with StK in their tags, most of whom aren't the genuine article. There's something like 20 variations on 'StK OGRE' alone :lol

if it was the now connecting etc blah blah blue screen, then yes, you got standby'd.

How would you do this? The shooting in Halo is balanced in such a way that buffing somebody's shields or life a little can play hell with the reliablity of certian weapons and tactics.

Wish something could be be done to aid an unfortunate threesome whose fourth bails, but that ain't the way. Maybe make 'em faster? Or more ammo?

or less skill points lost? or more skill points gained?

or... force even teams becomes enabled

so if 1 person leaves... when someone dies on the other team he will sit out until the next person dies on his team... so on and so forth

Just make it so when someone quits a game that a guy in a black suit comes to their house and shoots them in the head.

Alternatively, they can burn down their house.

Wario64 Yes that sounds like the standby cheat.

if your router/ modem has a standby button you turn it on and on your system you still walk around and do whatever and right before you kill someone you turn it back on and it counts but gives a blue screen standby message 1st.

people use it in capture the flag and assult as well.

you can watch your flag and all of a sudden u get the blue screen, the flag will be gone and at the base of the other.

in thier view point they click standby and are invisable, they grab the flag and in they see it in thier hands although we would not see it go or them. when they turn off standby they rejoin the game and score. flag disapears instantly and leaves ya wondering what just happened.

suppossedly you can use the sword all the way across a level as well by switching from a sniper weapon scope to it .
never actually been able to get that one to work.

i have seen the standby work, a friend has a modem that does it so we experiminted a bit , but gave it up as it was a lame way to play and took the fun right out of it.

I have been getting "stand-by'd" more and more, of late. And generally by players whose rankings are in the high teens. If your connection drops low, Bungie should just have you booted and dropped from the game. If your stats are THAT important to you, and you are legitimately getting dropped all of the time because of your internet -- upgrade.

Besides, the Halo stats don't really mean anything, as the competitive Halo leagues, AGP, MLG, CPL and CAL are all using a completely different ruleset than those used by Bungie.
