Being a “Patient Gamer” is the best way to play.

I don't have time to play things on release. Very few games anyhow that I can justify the cost at full price when I know they will usually drop quickly.

Why on earth would I want to pay full price for something when I can get it for cheaper. It's the publishers responsibility to convince me, not mine to keep the industry afloat.

Yes but they don't market to patient gamers. They market to 90% of this board who will follow the hype no matter what.

I agree with this, except for sports games

This wasn't true some years ago but absolutely is these days. I almost never buy games at launch anymore, I don't mind waiting a few months or even a few years.

Considering a lot of tripple A games are buggy as hell on release, it is good advice just to wait until it is cheap.

Ubisoft seems to actually bank on this.

I don't buy many games anymore, so for the few I do buy I don't mind getting them day 1. Like this year I was glad to support Stellar Blade and Astro Bot at full price. The other two I bought (Rebirth and Space Marine 2) were decent enough. Though in hindsight I should have skipped Space Marine 2 but my friend convinced me to get it for co-op (only for us to play it like 3 times lol).
