Best and Worst Accents

The Lunch Legend

GAF's Nicest Lunch Thief and Nosiest Dildo Archeologist
In recent hours, I've fallen in love with Irish born singer / former pop star, Samantha Mumba. But wow, her strong Irish accent comes as a huge turn off for me. Irish accents are particularly rough sounding to my ears for whatever reason. And maybe it also sounds a little bit silly to me because of leprechauns in popular culture.

The accents I like are Russian and German. They have a hard edge that sounds nice to my ears.

Accents have always been unique, in a sense that they can easily allow someone to determine where somebody was born/raised, and generally in some cases give you a sense of their overall background. Which begs the question:

In your opinion, which accents are the best? And which are the worst?

I feckin luv an Irish accent. This dude doesn't upload anymore, but I used to watch his videos just because of his addictive drunken Irish accent.

Worst: New Jersey
Jersey Shore What GIF by Jersey Shore Family Vacation

French is the most annoying to me, particularly on men, every time I hear someone with a French accent I have this odd urge to pick em up and dunk em in a trashcan upside down.

I like Norwegian, Swedish, and Icelandic accents quite a lot. Something about how they inflect is just very relaxing and peaceful to me.

This is true but there's a show called The Nanny that comes the closest to proving this wrong. Once she starts laughing, it's a dealbreaker though.

Lol yea I know the show. She has a "unique" voice and laugh for sure.

This reminds of the movie "The Man with Two Brains," a great movie from 1983 with Steve Martin and Kathleen Turner.

Steve's character tried to add a brain he was in love with with a beautiful voice to a hot hooker with a horrendous voice. The whole gag was that she sounded awful.

It's a great movie, I highly recommend it.

I'm all about the British, Irish, Australian accent. Southern USA accent I know is a thing. New York and Boston accents I enjoy. Canadian accent has the same amount of English as northern us states. It's all English just in a different way.

New Zealand has the best accent in my opinion. Also Welsh girls.

Welsh women is a nice choice and I have to agree. There's something very friendly and welcoming in that accent.

Some Southern American accents are nice while some are bleh.

British is such a mix of different accents. It'd be like saying American. I like a lot of them but some are nearly as grating as a leopard printed long islander. New York City and Jersey have some rough ones.

Watching old American television, particularly game shows from the 50's up to the 80's, we used to sound a lot better.

Forget about get some gabbagool ooooh

French or Italian women have the best accents

Actually any accent mostly.
It's cute when a non English speaking female speaks English with a heavy accent and the way they might mispronounce a word or a sound can be great in a kind makes them hot kinda way

Worst hmm
Scouse and brummie are difficult for me
Also vocal fry accents

Wtf?!

Irish is the hottest accent ever. If there's a guy talking Irish English within a mile, lord help me.

London and California accents are the worst.
West country accents are good because they sound like pirates and are speaking something more like Shakespearean English.

Once spoke to some coworker on the phone who had an amazing Northern Irish accent. No idea what she looked like, but most heavy Scot or Irish accents are horrible.

Scouse is the worst (male or female), annoyingly happy loud American women are second.
