:lol :lol :lol :lol

Solid: You kiddin' me? The bee guy (The Fear, The Pain, teh gay, whatever his name is) from MGS3 was so easy to beat. All you had to do was go underwater, equip your gun, and shoot him from there :lol

Every Metal Gear Solid boss. Seriously.
I agree. The fights are all absolutely amazing. Even in MGS 2 were just a few of the boss characters weren't all that great, the fights were still brilliant.

Killer 7 had some excellent boss fights as well. Same goes for RE 4. Metroid Prime had some excellent boss fights as well. Isn't this thread essentially the same as the EGM top 10 boss list?

The only thing that sucks about The End, however, is
if you save you end up in prison... if you wait more than 7 days to play again, he dies of "natural causes." WTF, good boss fights don't deserve that kind of treatment.

You can also kill him before you even get to the part where you fight.

Honnestly Kojima's Metal Gear games get the trophy and also i have to give some special mention to God of War.

A few that come to mind:

Metal Gear Solid / MGS3
Zelda: OOT (the bosses were my favorite thing about the game)
Contra III
Ikaruga
Mother Brain from NES Metroid

I musy say that Prime (First Form) from Metroid Prime was pretty kick ass.

Props to ALL RE4 Boss battles. Simply Awesome Stuff

indeed.

For this gen and last gen, I must say, OoT, MGS3, and RE4 have the greatest boss battles, by far. The End, the Krauser sequences (both knife fight and the huge village fight), and the whole Ganondorf/ Ganon end sequence are some of the greatest moments in gaming I've had in the last seven years.

Beating Sephiroth was a blast. So many Mario, Zelda and Metroid bosses are great and The End would be an obvious choice for me too if put on the spot.

Then I remembered Dark Falz from PSO. Beating him excites me even the 500th time around. He can still make me edgy. He is the best.

All of MGS3's.

All of Rez's. Especially the final boss which is an insane amalgam of all the bosses in the game(p.s. best final level in a shooter ever).

The uber tower of doom at the end of FF3/6, with Angel Kefka sitting at the top.

I think Shadow of the Colossus is going to take the "prize" when it gets released, though. :P

Im having dejavu :) Didnt we do this when a website recently did the best boss list? The ENd i think won the top spot.. I didnt think the end was all that great but apparently its a fan fave.

Resident Evil 4 - forgot it's name but the one that could swallow Leon without taking a bite :D

Hell. Yes. One of the best - and probably my favourite - scenes in the whole game. That bit reached new levels of excellence

Vergil in DMC3 just...because!

And I always thought Viewtiful Joe had cool bosses. Everyone is unique and plays in a different way

Oh look...all Capcom :lol Capcom's games always have brilliant bosses though, IMO

I also liked God Of War - several cool bosses, but they were spread out too much and there wasn't enough. The giant Minotaur rocked though

re4 - that sea monster thing in the lake...on one play through i was just standing on the dock shooting at fish, and it jumped out and ate me...that was one of the best moments of that game.

mgs3 - the end...such a long, awesome game of cat and mouse. equally fun to try to stalk him and tranquilize him as it is to just track him and snipe him.

oh man that was one of the best boss fights, with krauser!

best boss fight just for the hell of it though is richter/dracula, just so perfect.

I always get revved up for fighting the 4 Emperors/Elements in 1 battle and Dark Bahamut/Wyvern in FF4.

Same with the Algus fight in FFT.

Beating
Kefka
at the end of Final Fantasy VI was very fun but it dragged on for too long. Nice music, too (Dancing Mad). :D

A friend of mine had never played MGS, and was just off a Suikoden 1 and 2 kick, so I copied the Suiko1 save and it blew his mind that it was mentioned in the game. :lol

The Boss - MGS3!!
The End - MGS3
Ocelot fight #2 - MGS3 (Don't know if I've ever had so much tension to not screw up. This and the bridge :lol )
Psycho Mantis - MGS
DMC1 - Fire breathing spider/Shape-shifting Panther/Final Boss (underated boss battles as a whole)
RE4 - El Gigante but all of em are very good.
Sepiroth - FFVII
Mother Brain - Super Metroid

Hehe this thread should be renamed to "The MGS Boss Fight Appreciation thread"

And like the others have mentionded, the boss fight with "The End" from MGS3 will go down as one of my all time favourite ones. I was doing the stamina kill with this guy and had him down to 1 more shot when the
fucker stands up, faces the sunbeams and gets his full stamina back courtesy of photosysnthesis.
Man was I ever pissed! :lol

Of course the very last fight with
The Boss
was such an epic moment. Especially when the
theme song starts to play at the 3 (or was it 2?) minute countdown mark.
I'm not sure what other games have made me feel so damn emotional.

Resident Evil 4 (Verdugo, El Gigante, Salazar, Krauser)
Metroid Prime (Thardus, Omega Pirate, Ridley)
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Quadraxis)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Ganondorf/Ganon)
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (Ganondorf)
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap (Vaati)
Eternal Darkness (Pious Augustus)
Baten Kaitos (Giacomo, Ayme, Folon :D )
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (Joaquim, Walter)
Paper Mario 2 (Lord Crump, Grodus)

Don't know if it's one of the best, but my favorite is the final fight in TWW...

It may be easy, but it was so well done and so climatic... the music, the graphics, the atmosphere... I enjoyed it so much...

ZOE2 - Anubis
MGS - Psycho Mantis
MGS2 - The Harrier
MGS3 - The End
RE4 - El Gigante
DMC - 'The first one'
DMC3 - Andy & Ruga (names probably incorrect but I loved those guys)
Shadow of the Colossus - *I wont say :P *

May I ask what was so great about the FFVII boss battles besides the music? Did I miss something while playing the game? :|

I felt the challenge of the sepheroth battle was perfect.

I think that RE4 had better boss fights in general than MGS3, The End was amazing though

Hmm, gotta disagree on this. RE4's fights were big, intense, and action filled, but MGS bossfights always seemed more thought out than any other games. Especially in 1 and 3 where they refocused themselves. There's mental challenges, physical, psychological, emotional. The End really represents the different approach the Metal Gear games take to Boss fights, and they've done it with others. The always add something of the situation into the fight. Be it the absurd or emotional. Psycho Mantis, Sorrow, Boss, Persistent Ocelot. No other game really attempts that. RE4 was great in that it was the classic bossfight in overdrive. Pure intensity and artillery throughout. It certainly fit the type of game they crafted as a whole though.

OH, and I also must add..

Shenmue II - Don Niu. - The intensity, a defining moment to the entire story at that point. Just incredible presentation and culimination of the game up until that point. The aftermath just took the game to another level. Masterpiece.

Ninja Gaiden
Metroid Prime
Devil May Cry 3
Metal Gear Solid 3

all take the price for best boss fights this generation

Each to their own I guess. But my main problems with MGS3 were The Pain and The Fury, they seemed like such space fillers compared to some of the other bosses

Edit: mixed up names
