My country gets the launch (finally!) in a week and I'm thinking of picking one up, I can probably get 2 games with it and the games released are all the games released in Canada, since it's actually cheaper to get canadian games shipped to NZ than to buy them at a shop here.

I haven't been keeping up with releases really but was leaning towards

Wario ware and Mario64*4

would they arguably be the 2 best on the system so far?

Those 2 games sound like a good choice

The next good game is probably Castlevania DS, which comes out in the Fall. Unless that Yoshi Touch game is actually good

My DS list, starting from the best - judged by most playtime + enjoyment:

1. Zoo Keeper
2. Chokkan Hitofude (Polarium)
3. Sawaru Made in Wario (Wario Ware Touched!)
4. Feel the Magic (Project Rub)
5. Super Mario 64 DS - only for the minigames

stuff I couldn't figure out due to lack in Japanese

Daikasso! Band Brothers
Tendo Dokuta

stuff I couldn't bother to spend more than a half an hour with because they were so meh

Urbz: Sims in the City
Asphalt: Urban GT

I have Mario 64 DS and Feel the Magic, but haven't played FTM yet. I highly recommend Mario though, especially if you enjoyed the original. The minigames also rock, yeah! :)

Another Code scored a 35/40 in Famitsu apparently (or something) getting a platinum score.

This game looks pretty cool. Any ideas when its come out in the West?

Wario Ware Touched, Zoo Keeper and Feel the Magic.

Now I just need a Fire Emblem and some Square stuff.

has yoshi dropped in the states yet? that actually has me quite interested, worried about the longevity though. And what's the gist of zoo keeper?

EDIT: Zoo keeper the bejewelled clone? never liked that game because it feels to me like there is no way to develop a good strategy.

There ya go. Those are really the only three games worth buying. And I'm not even sure that I'd spend full price on any of them, really.

I would, but I amass so much trade in credit at EB via those deals its ridiculous.
Zoo Keeper was $35 there Monday, so take that info as you please.
But come on, its not like that PSP list is offering much aside from Lumines, well for me anyway. Portables are for puzzles and strategy games.

that's what I'm thinking. I mean I have to buy the unit for Advance wars, but just wondering if it will entertain me while I wait... yoshi sounds odly appealing.

Ping Pals, obviously. It's very involving, what with the collecting gold coins to buy a hat.

"TIME FOR HAT"

Zoo Kepper is available as a flash game on the net, and yet it could be DS's best. WTF!

Portability is an awesome thing.
And despite it being pretty obvious from the start, the DS holding a DS game and a GBA game in it at the same time is more sweet that I would have imagined.

That's kind of worrying actually and a bit of a criticism that a friend made which hit home, he had a play of SM64*4 and I said "Mini games are quite cool ay" to which he replied "Yeah it's just like those flash or java games on the net though" The whole "games need to be simple" thing isn't really for me. I want really engrossing games for a handheld. Entertain me over a long travelling distance.

Hurry up Castlevania and Advance wars. Trouble is I don't think the hardware will price drop here anytime soon enough to warrant waiting for it....

So far, I'd say SM64DS. I just wish I hadn't gotten all 150 stars within days of buying it.

The only other game I have is Feel the Magic, which I'm not all that fond of.

I've only played Feel the Magic and Metroid demo, both are great to play...

regardless of your other purchases, I recommend Feel the Magic, especially if you plan to show off the unique abilities of the DS and want to have other people try out the new capabilities...

Catfish: You're in NZ, right? Supposedly, Metroid Prime is a release title (eB has a price for it, which they reckon amounts to a full release, not a demo, but then, they've been wrong before).

NZ and Australia are getting the First Hunt demo of MPHunters just like the US did. The full game isn't even completed yet, let alone be ready for sale.

I definitely recommend WarioWare over Feel the Magic. WW stomps it, in my opinion. Feel the Magic is decent, but it's overrated just because it's weird. They're both short as far as the "main game" goes, but with WW's 180+ microgames, it has A LOT more replay value than FtM. WW is the perfect game if you want to show off the DS's unique capabilities.

You're most likely right, but I pity those who have paid $80 for the demo (especially when it comes free anyway).
