Best ending credits roll song

the soothing piano sounds of tetris attack

seriousy, grab an spc player and the spc file and i could listen to that forever

Super Turrican
Super Turrican 2

EarthBound - Not really all that special, but the "I miss you" at the end was a nice touch.

-Metal Gear Solid* (high praise on this one)
-Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty* (a personal favorite)
-Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time* (epic amazing score)
-Shenmue* (my top pick out of the bunch)
-Metroid Prime
-Resident Evil 4* (very eerie)
-Halo: Combat Evolved

Great stuff all around. Big fan of the Shenmue soundtrack. The sequel had some really good music as well.

Streets of Rage 2!

Moving, thoughtful, beautiful. The end of a lovely game. Why can't Sega be this good any more?

Oh and Sonic CD. The PAL/JAP one at least, with the ace Believe in Yourself!

I can't believe noone's said Chrono Cross yet.

I'm glad someone beat me to it... I really like the entire soundtrack of Chrono Cross and love the closing credits song.

Quite funny though, I felt the same way.. till my girlfriend's father showed me his collection of traditional chinese music.

MGS3 - Way to Fall

"Son
You've got a way to kill
They're picking on you still
But they don't know

Son
You'd better wait to shine
They'll tell you what is yours
But they'll take mine"

FFVIII - say what you will but the ending theme rocks. Dark moody then the better FF vocal song then straight into the best version of Final Fantasy theme recorded ever.

Agreed. Plus, the part after the FF theme was awesome as well.

Well since this is what everyone wanted that other thread to be about, I think we should actually go with it in this thread because it's kinda a neat topic and there's lots of nice songs that fit their game well and leave a pleasant aftertaste. So please list.

MGS1
MGS3
Kingdom Hearts
Xenogears
Xenosaga
FFX
Shadow Hearts
Silent Hill 1
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 4
BoFV
Ico

Yikes, there goes a whole lot of my list. Very good selection (you even included BoFV, which I didn't expect anyone else to do, for some reason)...

I'd also add in

Ridge Racer V ("On the Painted Desert" rocks!)
REZ
Katamari
Rygar (PS2 game)
Panzer Saga
Beyond Good & Evil
Prince of Persia SoT
Blue Stinger
Crimson Sea
Mafia
Outcast

Breakdown from Namco sucked all kinds of ass, but the end sequence that transitions into the credits with the TrustFactory song blasting in the background MAKES YOU FEEL AWESOME.

No, really!

No, really!

The entire Breakdown finale (starting with the return to the very first room of the game) was f*cking awesome!

Yeah I gotta pimp Breakdown as well, especially since there were *two* ending themes and they were both good.

I'd really love to see that director make another game but dammit keep the idiot away from any gameplay decisions.

Edit: More traditionally I'll go with Chrono Trigger and Earthbound

You were there - ICO
Eyes on Me - Final Fantasy VIII
Melodies of Life - Final Fantasy IX

Tekken Tag Tournament's credit roll music was awesome too!

Beyond Good & Evil
Wait... what? How did this have good end credits? It was just three themes from the game played through! No extra music at all!

Don't get me wrong, BG&E is one my favorite games this gen, but best end credits? Not a chance.

Target Earth
Phantasy Star (original)
PSO
Thunder Force 3 (brought tears to my eyes)
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones

16 bit and 8 bit music rocked!

BG&E had a fantastic soundtrack, though, so hearing all the music smoothly played together as an entire song was awesome. When you take that with the peaceful backdrops being shown, I think it works out very well. :)

Hoenstly, though, if we are looking at MORE than just the song, I'd say that RRV might be my favorite (it's just so damn stylish).

Some that come to mind (some may have been mentioned):

Megaman X (or was that the ending)
Ridge Racer Type 4
Earthbound
Final Fantasy 3 (6)
Thunderforce 3 (might have been the ending instead)

No Super Castlevania IV love?

Super Metroid's also rocked real hard. I think it might be my favorite song within the whole series.

RE.FUKIN.4 has the best EVERYTHING!

Nahh not really.

I really liked RE4's end credits theme.. it told the sad story of the village quite well.

Along with that:
Silent Hill 1
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 4
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Vagrant Story
Breath of Fire V (I am a huge Hitoshi Sakimoto fan)
Wind Waker
A Link to the Past
The Chrono games

Anyone who says Castlevania: SotN and is serious, I'm going to have to smack.

How they decided to use that smooth jazz crap at the end of one of the best video game soundtracks of all time, I'll never understand.

I actually REALLY liked that song. "I am the Wind" by Cynthia Harrel

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past -- ending & staff credits themes
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker -- Staff Credits
Metal Gear Solid -- The Best Is Yet To Come
Mario 64
Super Mario Bros 3 -- Staff Credits (REMOVED from GBA version!! Bastards!)

GT3, arcade mode, normal setting. Go to to the clear status screen and check it out
if you finished all the races on normal. There's some great racing clips (real life ones),
and the song is 'Again' by Lenny Kravitz... it matches perfectly for anyone who loves cars and racing.
