Ok, I'm cheap but I need an up to date AV software that can do a reasonable job.

I'll take shareware too...

I suspect my comp has been infected, even though there hasn't been any obvious symptoms, I'm a bit curious about what kinda traffic my computer is sending out even while I'm not doing anything/downloading or what not on the internet.

When it comes to free, it basically boils down to either Avast or AVG. Take your pick. I think AVG is less on the resources though.

It's a freebie interface for the open-source scanner ClamAV. There's no real-time scanner though, it's manual. AVG has the real-time scanner component.
