Best GCN racer?

If you liked Waverace Blue Storm give 1080 a shot. Don't believe the haters. It's short as hell but it's VERY good for what is there. Even after you beat it and unlock everything, the gate challenge breathes new life into the game and is extremely fun. Not to mention it's budget title and usually costs no more then $19.99 at most places. :D

*ROCK*

Wave Race Blue Storm is the best racer on the GCN by far. It my fave this gen on any platform too. Great arcade gameplay. Pick it up. 1080:Avalanche isnt too bad either, and has a similar style of gameplay(but its far too short). Both are highly underrated IMO, particularly Wave Race Blue Storm. So if you liked WaveRace give 1080 a try too.

Dear God, huzkee, BELIEVE THE HATERS! Believe them!

No. Try it out Huzkee. Its a very nice game IMO.

Also...
I dislike F Zero GX. Unless you're playin the hardest difficulties, the races are all essentially you versus the tracks. Its difficult, but no fun. It gets better on the harder difficulties because the AI actually gives you some competition, but I still dont see what the big deal about the game is.

Bitch (giggle), I have all the Nintendo racers on the Cube including 1080 (too short, but good!).

My roomie has been in a racing kinda mood lately and while he likes the arcadey games the Cube has to offer, all he has to play in terms or realistic vehicle racers is World Championship Racing for my N64 (decent for its time). Naturally, this made me feel a little sad so I'm on the lookout for a conventional racing game for the Cube. He doesn't play games so often as to justify another console purchase but his birthday is coming up so I thought what the hell.

It's funny tho, he has made a comment that he likes Nintendo games alrite (Mariokart, nultiplayer games, etc) but the thing that would have totally sold him on a Gamecube is a solid racing game, which is sorely missing from the stable of exclusive games on the Cube. Nintendo should definitely do something about this. It's pretty pathetic actually, that we have to have this discussion.

Also, I agree with the bunch of you that say Waverace and F-Zero are the best racers. I actually prefer WR out of the two. I'd be just fine with them two, alas roomie AM CRYNG.

And City Racers.
:lol :lol

I actually own City Racers. :-(

Of the racers I own or have played...

Mario Kart: DD
Burnout 2
NFS: Underground 2
NFS: Underground
F-Zero GX
R: Racing Evolution
NFS: Hot Pursuit 2
Wave Race
Burnout
Pro Rally 2002
City Racers

...I'd say Burnout 2 is probably my favorite GC racing game with NFS:U2 and R:RE in 2nd and 3rd place for "realistic" racers.

MK: DD then F-Zero and Wave Race would be 1-2-3 for "non-realistic" racers.

And this is why I never even considered getting a GC. Not a single decent exclusive racer.
Why can`t Nintendo with their infinite recourses make something? It`s pretty pathetic.
Yeah, why can't they make the same game that several other developers have made? Their resources are infinite!

Burnout 2 rocks. The racing is intense, there is a decent variety of vehicles, the game still looks good compared to more current racers (especially in pro-scan), and the crash mode actually requires a bit of strategy.

How is Mario Kart compared to F-Zero?

I'm dissappointed in F-Zero because it feels as if there is no weight to the cars...yeah it's fast but it doesn't feel like the originals...

Mario Kart single player is short, but decent. The LAN play, while half-assed, is fun as hell. I don't mind not having the ability to select karts and drivers (I think Nintendo actually made a smart decision there), but some track/item/multiplayer set-up options would have been appreciated. My friends and I had a long MK session on Saturday playing Shine Thief and Ballon Battle, and we only quite because it was 3 in the morning.

You should read your own posts more often then.

:lol

Missed that tidbit when I first skimmed the thread...

I just connected my two GCs a couple of days ago for the first time, and tried Mario Kart. I only played against myself, having nobody else here at the moment, so it was something of a non-event. Oh, well. At least I won the race.

I'm repeating myself here, but don't overlook Auto Modelista. It's a great track racer with loads of licenced parts (performance and rice), uphill and downhill mountiain runs and a good selection of cars. If that's what you're after, it's a lot of fun.

Wave Race: Blue Storm and F-Zero GX are excellent games. MK:DD is great fun (multiplayer racing lasted weeks, but not single).

But that's pretty much it. And obviously nothing great in the realistic genre.

Need for Speed Underground 2. I put about 45 hours into this game on PC. Fabulous racer with a ton of customization, cool cars, gamemodes, and a giant city to cruise around and play tag in. Do it. Do it do it do it.
