Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb

Van Halen: Eruption

Deep Purple: Smoke On The Water, Child in Time, Highway Star

Guns n' Roses: Sweet Child O' Mine
(And a special mention for 'Estranged', which is ten minutes of Slash bliss)

Metallica: Enter Sandman, One

"The Argus" by Ween. The last minute and a half of that song sends shivers through my whole body.

Honorable mention to "Everyone Chooses Sides" by The Wrens.

One of these four:

Metallica - Master of Puppets
Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water
Zeppelin - Black Dog
Zeppelin - The Ocean

A Perfect Circle - Judith.

Specifically the full intro, right before the chorus starts.

No, a solo is a solo. A riff is the main hook of a song. Nirvana's 'Teen Spirit', the 4 chords played in their written succession, that's a riff. The opening to Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", that's a riff.

Too many people who don't know what a riff is. Makes me sad.

I'll second the vote for Rebel Rebel, because after reading everyone's answers, that's the one that's going through my head.

Van Halen - Ain't talking 'bout love
Deep Purple - Smoke on the water
Def Leppard - Promises
Masterplan - Heroes
GnR - Sweet child 'o mine
Ratt - You're in love
Winger - Battle Stations

+ many many more!

Best Guitar Riff:

Seven Nation Army, and I hate White Stripes, but this riff is killa :)

Best Non-Guitar Riff:

Muse's latest single, with the extremely odd war bunker video.

Or Girl In The Corner :)

this may or may not be an opinion topic but muse doesn't belong on anyones list, that is FACT gentlemen.

the 70s/80s rule the riff. noone has mentioned any sabbath songs yet :(

some good choices thus far

guns n roses - sweet child of mine
iron maiden - the trooper, but as was said they have a lot of memorable guitar riffs

other memorable riffs that havent been mentioned

black sabbath - paranoid or sweet leaf
