PalmPSOne

1.) Sony PSP
2.) NEC PC Engine LT
3.) NEC PC Engine GT / TurboExpress

then way down the list.....even though it's not nearly the best design, I really liked
The Express aka Nintendo Express by BDL (Biederman Design Labs) that was going to be marketed by Camerica, but ultimately never made it. the color handheld NES..... which Nintendo should have taken over for themselves, and renamed it the GameBoy 2 or ColorBoy. mind, you, this was 8-9 years before the GBC.

based on looks, i'd go PSP, GBAsp and Micro. Based on ergonomics and feel, i think the PSP is incredibly bulky and uncomfortable, the SP is a little too cramped for me. I'd probably give the nod to the original GBA.

Am I missing something? Is the GBA Micro out, how can so many people be calling it if its not out?

It's a good tie between the GBA SP and the PSP for me. I like the simplicity and pick up and go of the GBA SP. I like the form and functionality of the PSP and screen of course.

Well it is pretty sweet. After trying it out, I have to have it, since I never picked up an SP. Still, I the PSP is better

I saw it at E3 and just like everyone else it seems was all excited. Then I started actually thinking about it a minute and I really don't think it will be a GBA SP replacement at all. Sometimes the GBA SP can give me a hand cramp playing and I started imagining playing the Micro for a long time, like say Fire Emblem and started to doubt it. Plus with the screen being smaller, really the GBA SP is just too hard to top and I don't feel the Micro will do it. I will give it a shot of course and try it out when I get a chance but I just think its a little early to be declaring it a best handheld in anything.

the original Gameboy is infinitely more comfortable to hold than most handhelds released after it (including the over-hyped, underwhelming, sparkler of a machine, the PSP)

but that blurry side-scrolling shit was torture

I took it as functional design. Anything that won't fit in my pocket wasn't even in the running.
I dunno...you must have some damn small pockets then...I've been taking my PSP around with me in my pocket (using the little 'carrying thingy' that shipped with it) for the past few weeks

The PSP though does make every little smudge noticable, but that goes away when the screen is on and even with it off PSP > *

:b

the most comfortable is still the original gameboy imo, followed by the pc engine gt.

overall, ergonomically and portability, it has to be the gba sp, although i haven't used a gb micro.

My GBA SP looks like it's been through a small skirmish, not a war, but maybe a border conflict or two. It still plays perfectly, the buttons haven't suffered at all, including the shoulder buttons. It stays in my left cargo pocket at all times whenever I'm out of the house including work, I'm sure there have been times that it's had a great deal of pressure on it when I use my leg to do something like, support a piece of a stainless steel grill that I'm lifting into a truck.

Anything that didn't fold would have undoubtedly suffered either a cracked or scratched screen I'm sure. A micro probably would've snapped in two. I don't even want to imagine a PSP let alone a DS. I should never have to worry "is my portable going to be allright in my pocket?"

My hands seldom ache as a result of playing the SP, it still has a great library. Minus a point or two for the screen lighting and such, but that same screen is much less likely to get messed up like the PSP's. It fills the 20 minutes or so I sit around when I'm at doctors' offices or waiting in line and such. So my vote goes to the SP

I guess most PSP fans wear big cargo pants anyway. The PSP anchor probably makes it easier for your pants to fall down below your butt, I'm sure it is all the rage.

Stop wearing hot leather pants and you should be fine. Seriously this argument is stupid now. The PSP is the same size, even a little smaller then the DS and original GBA and I haven't seen one of my friends not be able to put it in their pockets quite easily. If you are not trying to troll the PSP and are being serious then just realize your are a weird exception and not the rule.

Cargo Pants? :lol

I should known before I even replied...you've probably never seen a PSP outside of the hands of a 11 year old :b

HAHA ROOFLES.

I own one, and I don't take it with me anymore because it is a pain in the ass. As far as I'm concerned, it's just another platform, and I play it sitting in front of the tv.

No need to cry though. PSP is a sexy awesome little machine with some great games. It just isn't a great portable.

The DS is even bigger than the PSP when open and akward as hell to use the stylus while holding in my hands (standing anyway, sitting on my couch works). How the fuck does that make the PSP's faults better heh.

I'll be damned if this sassy bitch ain't awesome ------

GBpocket was always a nice and clean little bastard - Sad I missed out in the day, but I've collected 4 of 'em since :)

And yea, the SP really takes the cake ---

And bow down --- I hear, they mapped the fusalage of the modern Hummer from this bad-boy:

Now that it's been pointed out, I have to agree. I sorta wish I got the original Brick Boy colored Pocket version when I had the chance.

GBASP. NES style makes me smile!

(seriously digging on the looks of the Micro, too. Gotta see how those buttons work for me, though)

This man has the correct answer!

Though the GBASP comes close, and I'll always have a soft spot for the Lynx 1.

The Nomad was the worst commercial portable ever. It feels just like playing a brick and the system itself is horribly faulty -- on mine, the LCD is rotting, the button contacts are starting to fail, the AC adaptor connection (as with every Sega machine) has long since become partially detached from the PCB, and sometimes for no reason the system just crashes. And I bought it new and only used it very gently! And my battery pack's contacts were corroded in the box, and Sega refused to replace it. Man am I kicking myself for not buying a PowerBack at the time.

But what a great library, and the RFOut/second controller port were also very cool :)

There needs to be an SP that's styled like the old Game Boy, complete with the option to play the games in a gross, green tint. I'm surprised they haven't done this--you'd think they'd do that before an NES-styled one.

That white PSP is probably the best thing I've ever seen though.

And is it just me, or is the GBA Micro HIDEOUS? I actually don't think it'll catch on with the emo kids.

I've only played:

GB
GameGear
Nomad
GBC
GBA
GBA SP
PSP
DS

And out of those I've been only been able to play the GB/GBC, and GG for a long time with no probs. My hands are too big for these handhelds, so they cramp up after a while. So for me, those handhelds are the best designed.

Creepy.

Also with the whole "PSP sucks because it can be damaged easily." debacle, I got my PSP day one and to this day still don't have even a hair line scratch on the screen or otherwise. I don't have a screen protector OR a hard case, and my PSP is still in perfect condition. Too bad I only play Lumines these days. =/

Bullshit.

I bet you I could find some.

I'm sure you could too, just like I could find them on ANY handheld device...

Thankfully, they are something that can only be seen when the system is viewed in the light with nothing on the screen. Once you start playing, you aren't going to be able to see them...

For the first time today, I played around with a PSP. Pretty cool tech and design. It reminds me of a Nomad or Game Gear but SIGNIFICANTLY slimmer.

Nice screen too.

Assuming the thing doesn't fall apart after a few months like some other Sony products, they did a good job.
