Since I began playing video games (Defender of the Crown) until today (Tears of the Kingdom) I've noticed there are a lot of notable games that have this naming scheme: <noun> of the <noun2>

Which ones are your favorites or the most influential/important ones?

My pick :

This AD&D game is excellent and the SEGA-CD port is fantastic, one of the best games of the console. Japanese port of a Western game, developed with the upmost respect and great efforts on all regards : pixel-art, soundtrack, sound effects and exploiting the SEGA-CD extremely well.

Highly recommended.

Was ready to click on Shadow of the Colossus, until I... couldn't? wtf, OP?
Voted for Breath of the Wild and Knights of the Old Republic instead but leaving feeling disappointed in humanity right now.

Outside of the recent Zelda games I'd have voted for Shadow of the Colossus.

MGS4 Guns of the Patriots, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the first sin, and Rise of the Tomb Raider also come to mind.

Added Shadow of the Colossus.

Crazy how ChatGPT had missed that, too. It also didn't find Circle of the Moon and Symphony of the Night but instead "found" Order of the Ecclesia and Ocarina of the Time...

Poll now has the max amount of options.

edit:
Damn had thought of Lure of the Temptress earlier but ChatGPT also missed that today.

Despite hillariously being nominated for TGA's GOTY. Shadow of the Erdtree is not a game.
Unfortunately, it is (seriously, whoever appoved the fact that SoTE has ZERO relation with the main game should be drop kicked!)

PS: of course i understand and agree with what you said

Game of the Year

Some more:

Wrath of the Righteous
Call of the Sea
Sons of the Forest
Shadow/Rise of the Tomb Raider
Lords of the Fallen
Guardians of the Galaxy
Rise of the Ronin
Anything with Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Anything with The Lord of the Rings
Mask of the Betrayer
Rise/Case of the Golden Idol

Man, I used to love Defender of the Crown as a kid. I had it on the NES. Anyone aware of any good modern games like that?
I think there was a remake but idk if it's easily available on PC.

I guess something like Mount & Blade or Total War would be your modern successor.

Lords of the Realm is not modern, but I'd consider it the stepping stone on the way to those modern successors. It's awesome and on Steam for next to nothing.
