Best PHP Book?

I'm looking to further develop my web design/development skills so I've decided to take on the beast known as PHP. What book(s) do you reccomend for someone like me? I have some minor experience with C++ and VB, as well as a good knowlege of HTML and a bit of Actionscript, so different kinds of code are not completely foreign to me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...thanks.

Pretty much anything published by O'Reilly on the subject is good. I love their books.

I have one called "Programming PHP" by Lerdorf and Tatroe right next to me at this very moment. Its a good book. Its easy to follow and the examples make sense.

PHP is one of the few languages you can teach yourself with free internet resources. I don't know how good the books are, but the "official" stuff on the web is top notch.

the internet manual linked to above is all you really need (provide you have at least basic comprehension of sequential based programming languages. BASIC will do really.)

I've always tried to put the definition of php in one sentence and I cant find a definition that does that.

Can anyone sum up the purpose and most common use of php in one or two sentences?

PHP Manual is all you need. Buying a book would be ridiculous. Unless it has to do with PHP/MySQL.
