I can't get any f**king work done at home because i keep falling asleep infront of my desk. Yeah am sure most of you would suggest coffee, well booo hooo i think i have enough coffee in my body to last a life time, it doesn't work for me. Everytime i try to open a book within 20 minutes am gone and will suddenly wake up in the middle of the night then heading straight to my bed. it really sucks

Go to a sleeping clinic. You might have a sleeping disorder.

What usually works for me:

Get really good sleep, like 9 hours, the night before.
When you wake up, go work out.
After working out, take a shower.
Eat.
Study.

That's usually when I can get my best work done, whatever it may be. After 2 hours of studying I get bored and start to fall asleep again. :p

Are you having problems staying awake beyond your normal hours, like working late at night, or are you simply having problems staying awake, period?

If coffee isn't helping, then aside from any other caffeinated drinks, your best bet is to address other factors that could be contributing. For starters, try to keep your environment cool, usually a tad cooler than you're comfortable with. Eating small snacks can help as well; sugar for short term energy, carbs for longer term energy. Assuming you're not trying to stay up beyond your normal hours, get more rest beforehand if possible. And if you keep falling asleep at your desk, set an alarm on your desk nearby to go off 30 minutes after you start studying in case you do fall asleep.

If all else fails, litter your desk with open scissors, sharpened pencils, upturned staples, and ballpoint pens.

I'm using Xenadrine EFX (fat burner) to get rid of that last sheathe of flab, it has an interesting side effect, namely making you hyper! Works wonders when you have 3 hours of lectures on data networks, security and services.

How safe is that thing, i'm not a fat guy or anything like that.should i be taking it?[not trying to offend anyone]

Espresso :lol

I hate people who drink espresso thinking they are getting a load of caffeine. The shit has less caffeine than a normal cup of coffee.

Tea is the way to go in my opinion. You drink enough, your peeing and your more mellow caffeine high will keep you going for hours.

insert a backstreet boys video and start to masturbate furiously and try to get an erection.

that should keep you awake along time

Get less sleep the night before. If you go on like 4 or 5 hours sleep, the first night you'll be wide awake and not tired at all.

It'll catch up tp you the next day, but the first night you will not be tired at all.

Clip electric shockers to your balls attached to a button, everytime you think of tight asian asses going up and down on your small penis push the button.
Not only will you stay awake but you will never want to think of asians again. Ask Pavlov all about it.

Sugar == carbs. I'd recommend a balanced meal rather than just more and more carbohydrates. Even low-GI carbs, in isolation, will cause your blood sugar levels to fluctuate and contribute to making you even more tired than before, an hour or so later. I guess it depends on how late you need to stay up past the point of sleepyness, but overall the balanced approach is best for a lot of reasons (quick sugars aren't really a stimulant in the first place).

* Chew gum
* Open all windows, cold air
* Stay busy, look stuff up, don't just read because you WILL fall asleep
* Don't lie down, not even "just for 5 minutes", because you WILL fall asleep
* Drink ice cold coke

exercise, if you must get up and out of your room and walk get the blood pumping. Do not stay at your desk if you find your self losing concentration tho thats the quickest way to wake up with a word document with 139847 e's in a row on your screen, or my fav the equation with a 2______________________________ that goes from one corner of your paper to the other lol :lol .

Is it true that espresso has less caffeine than regular coffee?

Yes and no. An espresso cup has about as much caffeine as a cup of dark brew. But servings for espresso are much smaller. Which means that the content of caffeine per milliliter are much higher than with a regular brew. Moreover, caffeine is more quickly assimilated when taken in concentrated dosages, such as an espresso cup.

The myth of lower caffeine espresso comes comes from the fact that the darker roast beans used for espresso do have less caffeine than regularly roasted beans as roasting is supposed to break up or sublimate the caffeine in the beans (I have read this quote on research articles, but found no scientific studies supporting it. Anybody out there?). But espresso is prepared using pressurized water through significantly more ground (twice as much?) than regular drip coffee, resulting in a higher percentage of caffeine per milliliter. Please refer also to Does dark roast coffee have less caffeine than light roast?

I can't believe you guys are saying making the room temperature colder. That ALWAYS makes me more sleepy than anything. But then again it also takes me an hour to get to sleep.

I know why it happens, I always seems to have things (it could be anything) on my mind when I lay down to go to sleep. I really don't want to have to take sleeping aids if I can help it but it does bother me that it takes me so long to fall asleep.

It's totally normal. Two things :

1. Your biological clock is very precise, and you need this one hour of "relaxation" each day before you go to sleep.

2. You feel too much pressure in your job/school, and you just need to calm the fuck down.
